What a difference a second date can make. After telling him no at first, he invited me to hang out with his friends yesterday. 4 bars and 1 restaurant later, it was a very nice time. He was actually talkative. His friends were great. Didn't think I'd be the only girl there, but hey.

Current girlfriend is awesome in so many ways, but something is off somewhere and I can't put my finger on it. I'm not going to toot my own horn and say that I'm funny....I'm f'n hilarious. I haven't had the experiences that I've had with women, because they like guys with no personality. Lately, the laughter has stopped. We laid in bed last night watching TV and in my typical state of mind, I make fun of everything that I see. Nothing but blank stares. I did manage to get her to talk about cleaning her house and work. I guess it's a good think I didn't just stare at her blankly, when talks of work and cleaning commenced.

Bottomless means so many wonderful things to me!

However, it can also have a negative connotation in other areas. It's ok though, it just means that I'll have sore hips the next day.

Honestly, at this point, I’m just like “WTF is up?” I wont accept “fine” as an answer. Lord knows how many times Ive been blindsided (not just by this woman) by supposed issues that were always “nothing.”

I honestly think that is how this gal makes up my “cheating.” Something enters her mind, she is “fine” and that gives her time to go from me taking 30 minutes to get back to her all the way to me banging a coworker or something.

I’m over letting sleeping dogs lie, I’m 40 and I dont have time for that shit.

I dated a girl a few years back. The first time she came to my house, she explained that we had to have a serious discussion. She was in a protection program. Apparently the ex, now in prison, tried to kill her several times. The last attempt was in the form of a car bomb. The car bomb incident happened while he was in prison. It was a little discerning to know that in order for her to come to my house, it required a full background check without my knowledge. I also had two unmarked black SUV's parked in my neighborhood anytime she came over. Needless to say, that didn't last very long. I think I've posted about this somewhere here before. Rather off-putting to know that people at the end of the street, are listening to everything going on inside my house.

It really isn't a killjoy, it has much more to do with this specific community than convicted felons. It's a weird vibe here; it's definitely different from anything I've experienced in the past. I should add that the woman in my story is a solid 4/10. If she were a total smoke show I'm sure there's a section in The Doctrine on how to navigate a situation where you might be dating a hot criminal.

Ah, the guessing game. I can relate on this as well. Girlfriend acts odd, I ask, "Everything ok." She smiles and says everything is fine. 5 seconds later, silence and blank stares again. At this point, all I know to do is to continue to be me.

If you ask, and she says 'it's fine' or words to that effect, it's on her. IMO. If she won't tell you what's wrong, she also cannot reasonably expect you to help fix it. As Rudi says, just carry on being you!

Problem is then its a blow-up later. Do that once and Im done pretending its just zoning out or a distraction, either talk or leave.

Its always (at least in my case) the stupidest fucking reason on the planet. Like some simple ass miscommunication or something completely nothing. Like the last chick blew up once because I wouldnt "let" her help cooking when she came over. Then you wonder why a dude wont commit, after a fight as stupid as that.

I always had a feeling my son would get left behind, I just never imagined he'd be the one to kick her out. They had been living in 2 rooms in our house.

Now I'm depressed, and don't know what to say to her parents. My son already has someone else in mind, but I'm not sure I'm ready to dive into another relationship.

Take your time Wede. Heal before you move on to the next one. Tell your son he needs to slow down, take some time for reflection and let him know I said well done.....I mean aside from the fact that there is only one he has in mind.
