One of my "extra duties as assigned" in the Army was Squadron Photographer for the Cavalry unit I was in. I was furnished with large blocks of 35mm B&W film and allowed to shoot whenever and wherever I wished. I also had to shoot the weekly award ceremony and some pre-deployment recon stuff from helicopters. I spent a couple of afternoons every week in the darkroom.

Digital photography is soooo much easier.

I remember having a family holiday in the USA in the early 80s. Father brought 40 rolls from Kodac and got through most of them.
Camera had a carry box of lenses. I had two jobs. Carry lense bag and load film.
