I can’t remember the last time I saw a kid pushing a lawn mower. In fact,
I can’t remember the last time I saw a kid doing ANY type of yard work. 🤔

My offer was pretty generous. I can hire Philosophy PhD's here for fifty cents any day, but have to teach them how to work a lawnmower first.

I'm paying in US dollars, so $2.00 is probably enough to buy the CN Tower these days.

Speaking of old, you know that you belong in this thread when you remember seeing the CN Tower being built (over 10 years before LJ was born).....

My gardener brought his 12yo son to be his helper this summer. He mostly cleaned up after his dad but he mowed the lawn a few times as well. Good kid.

Also, my neighbor to the north of me has his kids do the yard work all the time. Not all kids are lazy good-for-nothings.

I actually saw one of the neighborhood kids pressure washing driveways to raise $ for a non-profit they created to teach younger kids robotics.

....I got a perfect score on this list so I guess I'm old.

Wait, there's more!

What makes me really old is the fact that both of my children got a perfect score on this list too.

Me too. But once in a while I still write a check so I suppose that’s not helping my score.

Trivia:

"He portrayed a banjo-playing "local" in the film's famous "dueling banjos" scene. Boorman felt that Redden's skinny frame, large head, and almond-shaped eyes made him the natural choice to play the part of an "inbred from the back woods." Because Redden could not play the banjo, he wore a special shirt that allowed a real banjo player to hide behind him. The scene was then shot with carefully chosen camera angles to conceal the player, whose arms were slipped around Redden's waist to play the tune.[2] The hidden banjo player was shown playing in the bar-fingered "clawhammer" style, while the banjo heard on the soundtrack was played in three-finger "Earl Scruggs" style, using finger picks."

That first item, the rotary phone, was a horrible memory for me back in 1967. My girlfriend at the time had a phone number that that ended in 57990. So, for those who remember rotary phones, dialing 9s and 0s took forever since it was all the way at the end. More frustrating was when you screwed up and had to start over (beer may have been involved). It took forever to dial my girlfriend's number. It was almost reason enough to break up with her and get a girlfriend with a "shorter" phone number. Well, I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. We got married in '72 and just celebrated our 52 year anniversary.

Congratulations! That's gotta be one of the longest marriages here.

We got married in 1975 and just celebrated 49 years together last July.

I think 3798j or 3.0L may have the longest here (not sure, though).

My honey and I met 60 years ago, while in high school. Been married 55 years.
