An easy sauce to make is a 1/4 cup Tamari or soy with a Tbsp of brown sugar dissolved in it. Saute up some chopped scallions and shallots, then add in the browned tofu and dump the sauce on everything. Add in a good helping of black pepper (everyone's taste is different here, so go with what you think your tolerance level is). Let it thicken for a bit, then serve over rice with a side of baby bok choy or some other green veggie. FWIW, I'm super picky when it comes to tofu texture. Wifey likes tofu dishes at the local Thai place, but I don't. Their tofu is too mushy. Different brands of tofu will have different textures as well, even if they both say Extra Firm.

Something new at the deli counter. I decided to give it a try since it looked appetizing.
The outer crust was rock hard and the center crust was paper thin. The topping was mildly palatable. That's what I ate and got rid of the rest. Usually, PC products are pretty good but not this time. |
