The whole argument here is NOT being able to charge at home, in which case most people said they won't consider an EV at all.
220v does charge the car more efficiently. The battery needs to be held within a certain temperature range to be charged, regardless of the rate of charge. Holding it there longer uses more power. So, faster charging uses less power to fill the battery a given amount.

Either way, easy enough to wire up 240v in the USA-- took me ~30 minutes to add a 240 breaker and wire in a 7kw charger.

My answer would be no if I don't have at-home charging. My old office has 2 chargers and is located near 2 condo towers. When one of the chargers wasn't working. I have seen EV owners unhooking one another's plugs. It's hilarious to watch. Not funny for the OG owner returning to only realized his/her was unhooked.

I am glad that my home garage is L2 ready. Too bad the current EV offerings are hideous and dorky. Someday....

When my car (i3) is locked, the charge cable is locked in the plug. Not sure how anyone could remove it...

I'm looking forward to seeing induction chargers for cars so all you have to do is drive onto a platform or an induction pad of sort. This way you won't forget to charge or having to deal with coiling the cord on the wall etc. I can't get my family to put up garden hose much less a charging cable.

Phones and watches are charged on induction pads so why not cars?

Rant: at one of my offices, the same Tesla charges his car every single day on our one charger even though I know they only live at the most 30 miles away round trip. I drive 70-80 round trip. EV owners need to stop being greedy bitches. Sure, I don't need to exchange at the office, I have enough range, but there are times I would like to charge if I am doing extra errands during and before work. Their 300 mile Tesla doesn't need to top off every fucking time.

Unplug it, or just get to work earlier. My last place of employment had 5 EV spots, all at the very front of the parking deck. I got there at 7, and noticed that 3 were always filled. Well as the place hired more and more people, those EV spots started getting filled earlier and earlier, to the point where one of my coworkers was getting to work by 615, so he could have a spot and charge his car... Stupid. Id rather sleep in and stop at a filthy gas station instead of getting up at the ass crack of dawn to charge.

Have you asked him to move once he's done charging? 30 miles should be easily <2 hours of charging...

I think our chargers will keep billing you after the car is fully charged unless you unplug it so you have to move your car to prevent being billed additional beyond what you use.

My old office had a group text setup. There were only 2 chargers and about 6 vehicles

At lunchtime the early morning 2 owners would text that they were moving their cars, so that 2 more people could do an afternoon charge up

Between some owners not needing a charge that day / someone working remote / PTO days, I think it worked out great for all of them

My friend was part of it, that is how I found out the details.

The blissful feeling I get from stories of charging drama is likely similar to the feeling EV drivers have while humming past ICE vehicles filling up at the gas station.

I believe i3 is the cheapest Carbon Fiber monocoque you can buy in the market. Correct me if I'm wrong. The next will be the Alfa 4C.

I believe the video he's mentioning are Teslas being unplugged while using the J1772 adapter. The charging port do lock but the J Plug and the adapter is not.

2700 lb car where I (6’4) can sit behind myself. I can’t think of another car with those two attributes.

Also super low COG, 50:50 weight distro, instant “throttle” response, no lag, rear wheel drive, etc.

I’m pretty sure if the i3 didn’t look like a space pod it would be hugely popular in the USA. It’s the e30 of EVs

Honestly I love driving mine. People shouldn't judge a book by its cover. It looks like a goofy clown shitbox, but it's actually fun to drive and zip in and out of traffic. Is it a sub-4sec 0-60 car with tons of hp? Certainly not. It's one of those "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast" type of cars, except it's actually pretty quick.

Yup, I recall even in one drive event where they have i3 for autocross.
with those skinny bicycle tires, its extremely nimble and agile. It is actually a good car, sadly its restricted by the size of the battery (range) and manufacture cost (its not cheap for the CF monocoque compare to conventional chassis).

The range, especially with the updated/current battery, is way enough for 99% of driving. My wife and I put 40,000 miles/year on our i3 (BEV). That’s ~3x the average mileage people drive a car per year. We don’t take it on road trips, because we have 4 ICEVs and they’re better for that, but that only comes up 1-2 days per year. The other 99% of the time, the i3 is just generally better as a DD than ICEVs.
