Yeah, that doesn't happen. The only time I've ever known someone in Europe to get out of a ticket was some weird case like the officer was the cars owners dad, and the driver was the ex girl friend, now best friend, and the deal was "you don't come back in two years"

Don't know the details of that Subaru thing.

But in my country the tickets are astronomical. What the driver of the Subaru was doing was mildly acceptable since it was closed off (we have different way to see trespassing), and got off only because being seen as family.

Yes, racism is over used, hell, before I moved to USA, I didn't know it was a real thing these days. But one car was hit and witnesses were there, one walks and nothing is done.

As a parent I've failed completely."

Now I have friends everywhere. I'm lucky they don't look down on me. I get what my dad was trying to say but that happened 20+ years ago.

Why doesn't the world just move on?

Actually racism is rampant in this country. It may not take on the form that you are referring to (ie, open racism... name calling, burning crosses), but it is everywhere. The flavor of racial discrimination today is called covert racism. It is designed to help people like you sleep better at night by saying things like "America is not the worst place in the world" and is "by far the best" when it come to open/overt racism. Go ask any minority if they feel discrimination is part of life, and (apparently) you will be surprised.

It is very possible this parking incident could be an example. That's the thing about covert racism... sometimes you just don't know because its much less blatant, so I wouldn't dismiss it as not.

Sad story but not sure it's racism. I'm an old rich white guy and I also come across assholes. I keep away from them. Or get away from them. Not only can assholes have a "Whoops" accident with one of my cars, but a lot of them pack heat. And I don't. (And most of them are really bad shots, too.)

Life is too short to try to correct every asshole you come across. Avoidance is the best policy. Flight rather than fight is the safest way.

I have kids, I wouldn't want them to learn to trust their milky white skin to save them (as it saves me a lot) and I'd rather not teach them to lay low while some arse is trying to put others down.

If you're really, really rich, may I please have two bags (small, like a kilo will do) of good jalapenos delivered to my house? The grocery stores here sell now only mild ones, and I need those to be able to eat.

I was trying to get some flavors into meals. Out of the 20 jalapenos I bought and ate today, none had any taste. Him being from California, I in my desperation for taste, I admit I was trying to use him.

Jalapeños in CA are pretty good.

Microsoft county is filled with a lot of old rich white guys too, however- Seattle weather sucks compared to SoCal.

I was attempting to become the pool boy so I can marry into his family (a daughter, niece, granddaughter, whatever) and call my career a day. Enjoy some nice mojitos along side his i8, have my new in law sign for a p1 for me- and live the good life.
