People don't exactly cross-shop these cars. Sure the Vette makes a far better performance value than the 435i but the 435i is a far better luxury tourer (with usable back seats no less). Either would be a great buy depending on what you are going to use them for...

For all those that say people do not really cross shop these cars they are not 100% right. Some times people do cross shop these cars. I know I am in a market for buying a new car soon and I am looking at both BMW 4 series, Lotus Evora, Porsche Cayman S, MB CLA45 AMG and Corvette C7. Yes, they are very different but these are some of the cars I like or liked. Some times I do not care about a category I just look at what I like regardless of a category.
However, for me as I cross shop more and more the C7 hands down is a car that offers more for the money then all others. It is leaps and bounds better then the car it replaces. In case of BMW 4 series, and Cayman S I can't really say that while the Lotus and CLA 45AMG are good options but pale in comparison to C7. My choice C7.

FTFY. But yeah, hard to see getting anything else at $55k if performance is your #1 priority.

I wish Chevy would package the Corvette like the 911 and put some rear seats in there so I could haul a child around when I need to. I bet there are quite a few people like me who can't get Corvettes just because of that reason.
When I had my Z06 I had to keep a 2nd car around for "normal" use. I think just about every single Corvette owner I have interacted with over the years has at least one additional car. This is an expensive approach. GM might be able to sell more of these cars if they just made them a bit more practical. I think they could do it without ruining the car. |

Yeah, I did this for the past 4 years with my Corvette and GT-R. Guess what? You spend all of your time driving your "econ box" while the sports car sits in the garage.

No, sorry.
If you want a true 4-seater, get a 4-seater, but don't ask companies to "convert" their 2-seat cars into kiddy carriers just because you don't want to pony up for a decent SUV or Sedan. The 458, Vantage, Corvette, Gallardo, Aventador, etc are all fine just the way they are.

For me, if I have a fun car, I don't also want to have an econo-box to DD because of circumstance (whether that's a child, MPG concerns, etc). I want to drive it everyday, because when I'm not driving it, all I do is think "I'd rather be driving the fun car." Now I'm not arguing that Corvette should add two more seats. But I do get that a Corvette represents one of the best bang for the buck sports cars you can get, that gets decent MPG, but again, is a non-starter for people that need a back seat. The CTS-V is awesome, but at 19mpg highway, it can be tough to swallow for some. For me it would be, as again I'd want to drive it everyday, but with a 45-90 mile daily commute depending on the client the gas bills add up quickly. |

The fact is people buy sports cars for what they are, insanely high performance vehicles that can curve up a road, and attract lots of attention with sweet looks, and sweet engine noise. No one buys a Ferrari Italia thinking "Boy I wish this car had 2 seats so I could carry my kids or some guest to a casual outing", they go and buy a Porshe Panamera, BMW M5 instead, or an A6 like I did. I think if you have to make those type of considerations in the first place, you probably aren't in the position to be owning one and should just get a kiddy carrier.

Considering that the new StringRay Corvette is projected to sell anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 units for MY2014, it's doing exceptionally well in sales, people know what they're getting with a Vette. People who need the extra seats will buy a Cadillac or a Malibu.

I don't think they should add a back seat to the Corvette, I'm just saying I can't buy one becasue it doesn't have one. I can get a CTS-V though!

I don't care if the average age was 1000 years old. The Corvette is a damn good sports car. I will enjoy driving it while you are too worried about the buyers of certain cars average age...... |

I get passed up all the time by brand new Camrys, lifted trucks, and soccer mom SUVs. People around here drive super fast for some reason.

The hood vent allows heat to escape from the engine bay. The vents on the side near the B-pillar allows air to cool the transmission/differential and the vents next to the taillights allow the heat to escape from transmission/differential. |

I think the C7 is a great car for the money/performance. I just think it looks tacky with the 4 exhaust pipes and all the "air vents". But you don't care right? You're sold on the C7, which is great! I wish BMW and Porsche's had more "air vents" in their cars. Last edited by YellowMellow; 12-27-2013 at 12:49 PM.. |

BMW drivers have the perception of being jerks, ass****,etc but that is not going to keep me from buying one if the car itself meets all of my needs and wants. Buy a car because it meets your needs. Not because of BS like average age, how the drivers are perceived to be, etc. If you loved everything about the C7 lets say, you really not going to buy it because the average age is 55? What if the average age of BMW drivers were 55? Or Porsche? Is that really going to keep you from buying it? |
