Wow, what a beaut. Classy but aggressive at the same time.

At the expected pricing of mid $85k for the V6 manual trim, I think the GTS 4.0 also presents a compelling argument. But if one were targeting the AMG I-4 trim starting at low $70k, I don't think I'd pick a bare bones Cayman S in that case.

I wouldn't take Button's review into too much consideration... he was obviously paid to be there and didn't give one negative criticism of the car.
i'm more intrigued by the 4 cylinder model at the price point its at. I'd consider dumping my M3 for one as a semi-daily driver... provided its got a deep enough trunk for groceries. I think it does as it has 7.4 cu-ft behind the seats and addition 5.3 cu-ft in the trunk.. My GT3 only has 4.6 in the frunk total. Should be enough for a weeks worth of groceries. mid engine cars... especially light weight ones... usually ride much better than front engine performance cars that need stiff springs to make them handle right. My old 458 and GT3 handle bumps much better than my M3.

Also worth noting:
> The Toyota S/C 6 Cyl comes with a standard TC automatic or a manual > The AMG M139 Turbo 4 comes with a Dual Clutch Automatic The Toyota 6 is a nice nod toward reliability and I'm glad they're offering it. However, the AMG M139 (the new version of the AMG M133) is the most powerful turbo 4 on the planet and the DCT is very appealing. I'm pretty hyped about the creature comforts they've finally added (CarPlay, cup holders, an option for a cushier "Street" suspension vs the sportier go-kart teeth rattler) while still keeping the Lotus quirks (hydraulic steering, little flip up cover over the start/stop). Waiting for some more info on the actual release date - you can reserve a spot today for 2000 GBP. I'll be trying to get a yellow one with yellow calipers with the AMG 4 Cyl and DCT auto. The configurator isn't too fleshed out yet (can't set up the suspension or any external mods). |

i always wanted to drive one of these... the Alpine A110. ever since i saw that it was gordon murray's daily driver. Seems like this is the next best option for us in the states. Apparently the alpine is 500 pounds less than the lotus. Not sure how they pulled that off. I can forgive that though because the lotus looks 100x better.

I grew up seeing the original A110 and loved them so I don't mind the new one, but it is an odd look.

You guys dont get the Alfa Romeo 4C in the US? Its a great (similar) car. Get the spider. Its like the "facelift" version of the 4c with improved ride and steering

Yeah I think we did, never really been interested in Alfa's though, and I know the reliability isn't the greatest. Think I'd much rather take a chance with Lotus, at least they use some Toyota products.

I like this car and think it has a lot of potential. Lotus like to do performance based cars such as their Evora 400 Cup. Looking forward to what the do with this platform, especially if they do something like that but in a manual. |
