Valid point. I had typed up a better response but considering I don't have a degree, I should probably sit this one out.

even in my line of work (construction) a degree is starting to be needed if you want to be anything other than a laborer or tradesman. Super, PM, Field/Project Engineer, or any other "management" type position all are now requiring a degree unless youve been doing it for a long time.

This is where I got lucky. I've got years of management, sales, and purchasing experience. During those years I built a network of sales, tooling, data networking and construction professionals. I'm currently a Project Coordinator and my salary is based on my experience/knowledge. I'm very fortunate that I get paid for what/who I know versus amount of actual work performed. My bosses come to me with problems and through phone calls, google and my knowledge, shit gets done. I also do heavy equipment certification training for them and do data/com work and detail cars on the side.

Exactly. You can teach/show someone all day long, but until they do it for themselves they don't know shit. A degree without hands on experience is just an expensive piece of paper.

My degree in math has less than zero to do with computers, other than it showed I could stick with something for 4 years (OK, 5.3, but who's counting?)

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I don't disagree with you but this is not the case. I have no problem paying for my children. The problem that I have is that none of the money has gone toward making positive changes in my children's lives. I'm not going to explain details. Let's just say some people make a living off child support and government assistance. Some people use their children as a paycheck, this is the case here.

I am sorry to here that hopefully you were still able to make a positive impact on your child.

I appreciate you saying that. There are other ways of creating impacts that are not financially based. Given the proper influences, money comes with the right attitude and good decision making skills. There is no respect given if one's only means to financial stability is accepting money that isn't earned.
