Sounds like your issues are just starting. You lucked out by having your renewal come up before the accident showed up but you won’t be as lucky in 6 months. Real talk….your status is going to be even less when no one will insure you and you inevitably keep driving any car (even a shitty one) and start getting pulled over for driving without insurance. I get you want a nice car while young and I was the same when I was that age. I also got a ton of tickets and a couple accidents and paid a ton in insurance. However, insurance nowadays is getting insane cost wise even with no tickets or crashes. Don’t handcuff yourself in the future by continuing to do dumb shit now.

While you:
- Made a series of bad decisions that already had you in a bad financial situation ($750 a month insurance is indicative of that) - made more bad decisions that turned into an even worse situation (bought an M4, turned off the nannies and binned it into another car) - seem to have your priorities very backwards - don't seem to fully recognize all of this yet I don't fault you. You're 23. I can't say I was loads different in many ways at 23. I never had something like this happen but S does happen and you'll get through it. Even though I could afford it, there is no way in hell I'd EVER be driving a car that cost me $750 a month in insurance. That's insane. That's not just high insurance, that's a lifestyle of flushing money down the toilet. There is some good advice in some of these responses to your dilemma. My advice would be to recognize that life is handing you some tough lessons for a reason. Take pause and ask why you're in this situation. IMO, life seems to be telling you to take a pause, reflect and change course. Humble yourself and be willing to accept a different lifestyle for the forseeable future, if necessary. My advice would be the same as others here, fix it and sell it. Take your losses and get out of debt. Get something more modest and a lot less to insure. Take any extra monthly income and use it to PREPARE FOR YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE. If you can afford all that at 23, you should consider not blowing most of your time and money on lifestyle and toys. Delayed gratification and fiscal responsiblity will take you a long way in life. Take it from me -- I'd be much further along today if I had done more of that myself. Your perspective does change with hindsight as you age. Sure, it's also about life experience ("life is short and you can't take it with you") but there is a very important line between penny pinching fiscal responsiblity and a money burning lifestyle. Knowing where to exist in between those extremes is vitally important. There are other ways to have fun and get your thrills, that don't cost most of what you make. If you are driving an M4 to impress, trust me, that's an empty road. Lastly, the world is headed for rough times. Our country for rough times. Choose your focus and priorities carefully. Best wishes.

Use your insurance that you’ve been paying $750/mo for. Your rates are going up regardless, whether you use them or not. Why isn’t everybody saying this?
Doing this yourself will benefit you in no way.

Because everyone would rather go full 50 year old dad mode on me and chastise the decisions I’ve made. Same 30 replies because nobody will read the thread but just wants to put in their 2 cents lol

Great idea, take a car with a power level you can't handle and add more power to it. What I'm wondering is if any of what you post is actually true or simply more of the attention seeking that seems to rule your life.

After an accident and insurance go down. Can you provide us the name of the insurance company. Everyone from this forum would love to buy car insurance from it

Wasn’t doubting that you have the car, have modded or crashed it. The doubt is about the financial details and it being the fault of the tires that you crashed.
So you had another previous accident that you were at fault, which fell off your insurance look back history and you’ve now crashed again, and yet you still think more power is what you need to spend money on. How about attending a driving school so maybe you can control your car, and don’t crash again doing something worse than property damage? How would you feel if that was a pedestrian you hit instead of a car when you lost control speeding through an intersection? |

More power in the car is irrelevant, I could crash a 100hp Miata drifting. Thanks for your input, the same thing has been mentioned 15 times in this thread already. I’ll cancel all my orders RIGHT NOW, I want to run 9s 1/4’s and there isn’t a lot of corners on the drag strip.

I think some here are trying to be genuine by instilling the fact you may reflect on this stage of life differently at a later time. I definitely did some stupid things and was lucky to not be caught or to have created a major disaster. In retrospect, I would have done some things different, hindsight is 20/20.
Just keep the future in mind when making decisions today. Some of the fun I had when younger is just a speck in my memory today. |

I read this has the OP was making a turn at a light, tried to break the car sideways and quickly ran out of talent. I truly hope the poor soul that was hit by you is fine and they will walk away with a newer car.
Blaming the tires made me chuckle though and it matches the younger generation perfectly! Wasn't my fault... I think you adding more power is just what the doctor ordered! FWIW, I was in jail during my younger 20's so I made some poor decisions myself, however I owned up to them. Dont point the finger at anyone but yourself. If you learn nothing else from this, learn what accountability means. |

Sounds like an unfortunate situation. We've all made mistakes, just make sure you do it the right way rather than cutting corners. It will catch up to you one way or another if you choose the "easy now" path.

Accidents happen when you lose concentration then why not add more power if you have the time and money when your ride is fixed, it'll make you an even better driver and more aware

That wasn't his fault, he must have hit an oil spot, a deer jumped onto the strip and he gave up the car in order to save Bambi. Do you think that his insurance covered the loss? I seriously doubt it and what about the hospital bill? The car got light because he pushed it past the cars limits not to mention his skill set.

OP you better hope your admission you were trying to “shoot the light” isn’t found before you try to plea down the reckless driving charge. The $750 a month in insurance will be going to Uber while your license is revoked.
