I've never really liked the Hommage car…..and I'm glad the standard G8X didn't take its design cues, but I'll reserve judgment on this car until it's unveiled.

Has there been any instance of this car lapping the Nurburgring with its new body work, or has almost no specific development been done on this car?
If it has a unique powertrain + gearbox combo with significantly lighter weight due carbon, it should receive its own chassis tuning. Unless its really just a base m4 with a chip + carbon body panels and features deleted. Or an M4 CSL with a manual gearbox and more carbon but the same suspension tuning. I find it really really hard to believe BMW is charging $600k for either of the things mentioned above. |

At least the front plate doesn't cut right through the kidneys. That's a win in itself.

Given the outstanding reviews of the G8X's driving dynamics, if this was what it looked like, it would be near universally adored and hailed as the second coming… car of the year, every year, throughout its production run.
Also, my G80 6MT is looking like more and more of a bargain every day. |

Such a bummer - I thought it'd be closer to the Hommage than the M4. Honestly, I didn't realize it would look like the M4 at all.
Not that I could get one anyway, but even if I could I'd take a hard pass if these images are reflective of the final product. Seems like a tuned G82 6MT does the same thing as this car… looks and all. The decision making seems downright bizarre on this one. It's borderline disrespectful

Pity you have to pay to get not ugly. Mmmm. That said, a potentially beautiful design in the making. This will be the one that's remembered from the current G series crop.
6MT FTW. That just hurts. |

People are saying that this car is sold out. If I just saw these pics I might be considering calling my dealer and asking for my deposit back.
Ha kidding. I'm flipping it the second I have it on bringatrailer because that's what you do these days. This is not a 600k car. The last time they made anything close to that level of car we got the m1. For 600k, from a company that doesn't do 600k cars, I want mid engine, cf everywhere and a hybrid system that can rival a 918. I really hope the styling from the homage concepts remains. Even then, price is no more than 200k. I've been a critic of the grills on the g8x but I really like the proportion of these.

All Im thinking is how easy the front will retrofit/third party solutions will appear to marry the grilles and bumper from 3.0 onto regular M3 sedan.
First light of hope that the car can be salvaged looks wise from the front is this teaser. Side edit: wouldnt be surprised BMW wont sell you M3 CSL 3.0 grilles if you dont own the M3 CSL. |

I'm going to reserve judgement till I see the final car. Curious about the transmission/clutch details and also that rear spoiler.
Based on the camo pictures I actually prefer the M4 front end but I'm admittedly biased.

Hood line correctly placed!
If this is based on a M4 and can have the hood line correctly placed… Why did they released the 4Series/M4… with the hood line in the middle of nowhere. Let’s hope the LCI of the 4 Series could look like this one. Last edited by emulajavi; 06-28-2022 at 01:33 PM.. |
