Ha! I didn't mean it that way dad. I was speaking on the premise of dealing with women who are usually solely catered to by men under most circumstances. I try to weed them out early. Courting or not, I can appreciate some balance.

You know, this was my immediate reaction too, but it was weird having the conversation with her. It wasn't actually about buddying up or using. Just literally, any drink she ordered if she was not with someone showed up with a "that guy over there wanted to pay for this" sort of thing. Wasn't about leading them on or dating them to get free drinks. She did admit to paying for her own drinks when out at a dinner with girlfriends, rather than a bar.

Yeah, that lends exactly to my response to i8 dad about circumstances surrounding the purchase and interactions. Of course, social settings and intentions will vary.

If this is the case, I can say that I've never purchased a drink for a woman in this specific circumstance.

But I have purchased rounds for the bar...#$5,000BarTab.

Agreed.

With the exception of one prom date, my wife is actually the first and only woman I ever walked up to. All others have approached me or called me from pics in yearbooks or in the newspaper, when I was younger. Still happens now. Never needed any car, fancy suit, or other props.

I strongly dislike having someone pay for me. Obviously if we're spending a decent amount of time together to where it becomes a "you get this one, I'll get the next one" sort of thing, that's different. I've seen too many examples of women using men for free things, and too many examples of men using money as a way to control/get what they want out of women. It's such a turn off. I'm probably more biased against having someone pay than I should be, but it is what it is. Money, for me, is freedom to do what I want, when I want, how I want. If it's someone else's money on someone else's terms, that's not worth it to me.

Edit: That was kind of ranty and not quite on topic, but it irks me... I had so many friends in college who went out with the sole intention of getting men to buy them drinks.
