Ours was about 3 feet long, but always did this. It was a real PITA to fix.

There was a manufacturing plant near our RR tracks that produced steel
office desks. One day, we found a huge pile of oily 1/4” discs out back.
We figured it was left-overs from machines that punched holes for the bolts.

Anyway, we loaded our pockets with the 1/4” pieces and walked the short
distance to the RR tracks. We placed hundreds of the discs in long rows
on the rails, then ran off into the bushes and waited. Much to our delight,
a freight train pulled into the yard, flattening the discs.

After the train passed, we scooped up dozens of discs that ended up about
the size of pennies and dimes. Next, we boogied up the street to the
bowling alley and proceded to clean out the bubble gum machine and then
play pinball.

I'm always early. I call it being on Army time (10-15 minutes before the advertised time of a meeting is "on-time"). I'd rather be 30 minutes early than 1 minute late!
