If you are old or were broke at some point in your life you know about the bogart the clothes dryer rule. Dry cycle done and unattended you have the right to remove someones laundry. Maybe the EV folks will develop the bogart the charger rule? Unattended EV's tying up chargers will be dragged out into the street?

EV cars are great daily drivers and cost next to nothing to own if looking at the perspective of cost per mile.
I have two EV's and they really are the best albeit mind-numbingly boring for daily driver duties. Free charging if bought new - fast, quiet and very techy for the geek in me - For 40k I can't think of a single better car for daily duty other than a Tesla. I have an STO for weekend duty before I get hate talking positive about electric cars, but if I had to pick ONE car to do everything, I'd much rather have a gas car hands down. |

The fraud behind Climate change pushing the EV and overall electrification is criminal at best. Anyone that says "the science is settled" lacks an understanding of scientific method and are generally spouting BS they can't support. That said I would own a Hybrid of even a EV if not for current battery technology. |

I’m not a tech guy, so I don’t get the appeal. Expensive and basically disposable.

Are chargers hot swappable? I'm assuming there isn't live voltage at the connector at all times and that there is a relay (or similar) that allows electricity to flow when either connected to a car or the user hits aome buttons (or pays) on the charging station.

Continuing on this EV path everyone knows it wlll only get worse with fights and violence coming into play sooner or later if not happening now. Do we think Bozo cares an ounce about this...

Biden admin official says higher tariffs on Chinese EVs are crucial for US automakers
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm on Tuesday said that the Biden administration's plan to quadruple tariffs on imported Chinese electric vehicles to over 100% in August is crucial to the health of the U.S. auto sector. "We need to have that industry here," Granholm said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday. "If we didn't do that, we would just be ceding the entire territory to China like we saw happen with solar panels." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...rs/ar-BB1nDAJy Translation: We need the votes and money from the UAW Pottery Barn Rules 2.0 You break it, you bought it and tax payers pay for it. |

The days of an environmentalist buying EV because it saves the environment are long gone. If I have the option I'd ride a bike or ride the train, but I do not have that option. I do care about the environment, if buying an EV means I leave a LARGE environment footprint up front for a possibility of a smaller one during ownership (also a largely debunked myth, because its largely dependent on where you get your power from), then I rather keep my shitbox, at least I am not consuming MORE from the earth other than a small drop of oil every year, something they already do, and even if we remove the ICE car permanently this moment, and no one have use for petroleum any longer, it doesn't stop the black gold from being extracted, because it is used in literally everything.

So after watching the video I think I can say that Matt isn't going to be buying one. Ouch. I suspect he's saying what a lot of people are thinking though.

Are electric cars better for the environment than fuel-powered cars? Here's the verdict Overall, every electric car will produce fewer emissions than its petrol equivalent, no matter where they are charged. Even with an electricity grid that still uses some fossil fuels, electric cars have much lower overall carbon emissions, and that will continue to drop as the electricity gets greener. https://iee.ucsb.edu/news-events/new...-heres-verdict |

More good news!
Here’s How Hot Weather Affects Electric Car Range Jun 4, 2024 A new study from Recurrent, which analyzed battery readings from 7,500 electric vehicles, found that electric vehicles can lose as much as 31% of their advertised range in sweltering weather. That’s because getting a sweltering cabin to cool down when it’s 100 degrees outside can take a lot of energy out of the high-voltage battery. But even so, there are ways to alleviate the problem, and–more importantly–it’s good to know that range loss in the summer is much less pronounced than in the freezing winter. https://insideevs.com/news/721984/ho...ss-study-2024/ What's losing 31% of your range when you're trying to save the planet? New Ad from Fossil Fuel Motors: The all new Planet Crusher 4.0 offers 30MPG most of the time but only 20MPG in the summer and 15MPG in the winter. |
