Copper can’t be mined fast enough to electrify the US May 15, 2024 Copper cannot be mined quickly enough to keep up with current U.S. policy guidelines to transition the country’s electricity and vehicle infrastructure to renewable energy, according to a University of Michigan study. The Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law in 2022, calls for 100% of cars manufactured to be electric vehicles by 2035. But an electric vehicle requires three to five times as much copper as an internal combustion engine vehicle—not to mention the copper required for upgrades to the electric grid. “A normal Honda Accord needs about 40 pounds of copper. The same battery electric Honda Accord needs almost 200 pounds of copper. https://news.umich.edu/copper-cant-b...ctrify-the-us/ The laws of unintended consequences Bite Democraps in the ass one more time |

Too funny
A Green Energy Paradox Is Unfolding in Appalachian Shale A new study from the University of Pittsburgh and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) estimates that up to 40 percent of the U.S.’s lithium needs could be supplied by wastewater produced by hydraulic fracturing operations from Marcellus shale gas wells in northern Appalachia. While lithium has the potential to be a major ally in lowering humanity’s dependence on fossil fuels, extracting lithium requires lots of water—roughly 2 million liters (around 500,000 gallons) to extract just one tonne of the stuff—and pollutes the air and water with chemicals and heavy metals. https://www.popularmechanics.com/sci...um-extraction/ |

I thought the trend was to just play back engine sounds to keep the driver satiated.

Sooner or later misplaced enthusiasm for a bad solution for a problem that doesn't exist and the reduction of free government cheese combined with big insurance, high tire wear and huge depreciation gets to the bottom line of just about anyone.

Love or hate EV's, this is in bad form. Not as bad as parking in a handy capped spot but bad form never the less.

Were there no other spots available? What if it was an emergency? Who was it preventing from charging? If all spots are taken save for some unused EV charging spots, you best believe I’ll park there too. What’s the law against doing this? There are a lot of Reddit posters who live in moms basement that get real upset about stuff like this, but never see it outside of pictures like this because the only time they go outside is when the window of their car is cracked open at the Taco Bell drive thru. The world is filled with shades of grey, don’t judge without context. |

It's not good but inadvertently because of the ev plague leads to more problems and spying on the general motoring public with monitoring from more spy cams on ev charging sites threatening fines for non ev's in car parks where without them people could park without worry and hassle.

Remember this: EV driver calls cops on Energy Secretary after her staff blocks charger with ICE car An EV driver in Georgia called the police on the US Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, after her staff blocked a public charger with a gasoline car to “reserve” it for her upcoming convoy of EVs that she was using to highlight the White House investment in electric vehicles. They are experts at looking foolish, lets not help them. |

I guess, but at the end of the day where are these spots located? In a parking lot. Where do cars park? At the end of the day, many of these chargers took away parking spots from business lots, you don't see gas stations doing this. I think if the EV spots are in a lot for a business / mall / sporting event /etc. they are fair game. No one is privileged to charge in a public lot. Destination chargers are a different story. |

Repairing An EV Is 30% More Expensive On Average Than An ICE Vehicle. Here’s Why
Jun 4, 2024 Mitchell said in its latest report that claims for EVs are still higher than ICE vehicles. In Q1 2024, the average repair bill for an EV in the U.S., including Tesla models, was $6,066. That’s 29% or $1,363 more than the average severity for ICE vehicles. https://insideevs.com/news/721836/ev...s-ice-q1-2024/ Not a good curve on that chart. |
