Well…..we know if CNN is reporting it, they can no longer hide or deny what many of us already expected/suspected.

At least in US the fine police (especially the LA force) service give a chance for armed crims to surrender.
Over here a car that came up on a spy cam to have been used carrying a gun was cornered and the unarmed driver shot dead in the car through the head by an armed cop apparently without being given a chance to surrender, this is near the hotspot of Brixton,South London where there have already been two riots in the past through police brutality and the 'investigation' into why he was shot is ongoing.

Generally the speed limit in Canada is 100KHM, but in some places 110KMH. I won't tell you that you'll never get a ticket but usually 120kmh is a safe speed to avoid the dreaded coupon.

Depends. On freeways it's anywhere from 55mph to 85mph, depending on the state and area.

Another sad day for Law Enforcement in Canada. a rookie police officer who just came off probation and was on his first solo shift was shot to death by a POS who was out on bail for assault police and possession of an illegal handgun. Here is a video of the officers remains arriving at the Office of the Chief Coroner with escort. RIP Brother.

R.I.P. Canadian brother-in-blue. Such a tragic loss amplified by minimal time in the profession. So sad!

RIP. Very sad. When will things like assault and using a weapon actually be more important than legally owning one? That scum bag should have already been in jail.

I recall a very long time ago we were walking a guy out of the house in handcuffs, he was under arrest for beating his wife pretty bad and as we were leaving she sucker punched him a good one.....I don't think that part ever got written up, but my memory might not be too clear on the details, like I said it was a long time ago.

We should not conflate legal ownership with criminals and the associated behavior(s). This has nothing to do with legal ownership and everything to do with pro-criminal legislation, policies, etc.

….what might've been given a pass many years ago has to be addressed today because of body worn cameras. Everything is hyper scrutinized.

I forgot to post the question (https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1835961)

Quote:
I would like to hear people's thoughts on carrying inside a police station in this particular scenario. I'm asking here first before going to my IA or the chief of the PD in question and asking their thoughts or policy. I don't want to rock the boat and force a new policy to be made where one didn't exist before.

Background: I have access to the inside of local police station (in the Bay Area) where I have regular monthly meetings with an emergency services group I'm a board member of. We, the board, have credentialed access to the secured parking area and inside the station. Meetings are always at night time and the PD is mostly empty when we are there. We never interact with any police officers as we go to and from our meeting room. We go in as a group and leave as a group.

What do people think about carrying in that scenario? I understand concealed means concealed, but I'd suspect if we interacted with any police their senses might be tuned well to see telltale signs of carrying.

Our IA did not list police station as restricted areas. Only schools, courthouses, commercial airports, bars and federal buildings. I don't see any law, yet, on restrictions at a police station.
Carry as usual without notifying IA/Chief?
Ask the IA their thoughts on doing this?
Ask the PD Chief if he is ok with it?

The other part of this equation is that even though I can do it, doesn't mean I should do it. It may be legal to carry, but it may not be smart to do it due risks of encountering an officer and things not going well. Besides not carrying at all, leaving in the car while inside seems to be the best option from my view without letting IA/Chief knowing that a CCWer has inside access and then having them set an official policy due to this.

Thank you

You can. People with CCW's come into the station and it's no issue.

To add to this, the legal system should've prevented this tragedy (...if it were operating as intended). The suspect had an extensive criminal history that included previously killing a California Highway Patrol K-9, assault and weapons charges, etc. He was supposed to be serving life in prison, but a San Bernardino County judge reduced his bail TWICE. That judge should be ashamed of themselves.

The guy who killed the rookie OPP officer a few days ago had two lifetime bans on owning or possessing firearms, and was arrested last year for assault police and possession of a firearm, he did some time in lock up before getting bail and then failed to appear for a court date when he ambushed and killed the officer on his first day on solo patrol.

This nonsense of releasing people on bail who are facing serious violent charges has to stop on both sides of the border. Governments and the courts job is supposed to be to protect society, not feed them to the wolves.

With Tesla Plad reaching 60 in 2 seconds... I was reading about how many officers are not trained to drive with high acceleration such as Tesla level. Neither is the public for that matter. More and more civilians are trying to adapt to faster drivers. Whether they are crossing the street or driving a car. Speed is the number one killer on the roads. I wonder if there will be a decrease in speeding tickets if vehicles are not upgraded and not able to keep up. On the flip side it could have huge benefits if police went electric first. Hope that makes sense.
More and more EV vehicles are becoming available and within reach of unskilled and careless drivers. I have a blind friend and he really struggles with ‘silent killers’ aka EV.
I know a few departments in California have a couple of EV's in the fleet but I don't see them being used as regular patrol vehicles anytime soon. Police patrol vehicles have high demands on the heat & AC along with all the ancillary electrical equipment, plus lots of hard acceleration I suspect the battery life would be challenged lasting a 12 hour shift and then the time to recharge the fleet during shift change would create a number of challenges. I could be way off though, but this is what my experience and common sense would tell me for the near future anyway.
