If there was a sign then its up to me to prove I was parked within the posted rules or to prove the call came from someone other than the lot owner. Of course if there is a sign then I am in the wrong and I wouldn't fight it.
Yes, there are signs everywhere. And I don't think it was a tow company that has an agreement with the garage. It was the first time that it had happened to me, so I just had 411 get me a tow company, I asked if they could do it, and they did.

A couple of pricks park like that in the building where I work. One of them parks an E55 in two compact spaces, although its not as blatant as in the op's post.

I would never vandalize someone's car (karma and all that), but I do curse at the mofo's everytime I see it. It's selfish beyond belief and pisses me off when I'm running late and have to park far away.

I park in the closest end spot and put the drivers door toward the curb. I figure a ding is inevitable some day, but it'll never be on the driver side since that's the side I see when approach the car all the time.

I've also made friends with the Dent Doctor franchisee in town for when that dark day happens. They can do magic.

I reeeeeaaally considered keying this b*tches FORD FOCUS that was taking up two spots at the FRONT of a BUSY movie theater. The license plate read "QUTEPIE". Should've been more like "DUMBB*TCH". However, I refrained...I don't stoop that low.

If I didn't care about my car so much I'd park as close as possible (read: 6 inches or less) on their drivers side so they have to crawl in from the other side, or better yet if you're out with friends do it on both sides so they can't get in their car.
They then have two options. 1) Call the police to get you towed/ticketed and explain why they parked that way in the first place or 2) They're screwed and have to wait until you leave. If they do anything to either car it's not like they're going to be able to deny it so you're good.

After reading all of these posts...I guess I've come to some conclusions.

1. A lot of you think that you can decide how others should act, and when they don't act that way you think you can deface "key" other people's property. No matter how anyone parks their car, what gives you the right to screw up someones paint? Who the hell do you think YOU are?

2. Yes this guy probably is a dick for taking up 2 spots in front of a busy shopping area, but who cares? He knows that most people throw open their doors with reckless abandon and he wants to keep his 75,000 dollar investment looking as good as the day he bought it, can you really blame him? I love my car and would do anything to keep it looking good, I may not block as many spots as possible in front of stores, but hell i'll park 50 feet from the nearest car, and still take up 2 spots, cuz I care about my car, and I like it looking good, and I know no matter how far I park from someone else, someone will still find a way to park next to me.

So, grow up all of you the posted the key comments, the fact that you want to vandalize someone else's property just shows how immature you are, and if you think he deserves it, good, he probably does, but it doesn't mean you have the right to inflict the damage.

What the hell, this is an enthusiast site, how can you even talk like this???

Hmmm...so getting a 75K car can do watever he wants?

First...the way he parked the car is just asking for trouble rather than "keep it look good"....
Yes...i said "key" doesn't mean I'll actually do it when I see it, just a figure of speech. Take it easy man!!!

But don't forget...there's plenty of "bimmer haters" around....these ppl might probably damage it worse than you think.
Parking in the middle of two spots will just catch all the attentions and asking for damage.

If we cannot even being civilize and park you own spot. How can you expect others to be cilvilize and respect you car?

Maybe I'll feel better when someone tow it away!

That is incredibly obnoxious. Seriously, its a 6 series. Not even an M6 (not that it wouldve made any difference whatsoever). If you have a bugatti, an aston, a ferrari, or a lambo, then you can do it and you'll be an asshole, but i'll understand. There's no reason to do that in a 6 series or an E320 with a big engine.

However, owning a supercar doesn't mean you are granted to do whatever you want! Even as little as just regarding a parking spot.

I too park a mile away, walk, and usually hug one curb taking up only one space. I've found like others, inevitably, maybe 1/10 times, someone does park next to me. I honestly don't see how that person is any different from people who will park both sides of the obnoxious vehicle. Both just like to bring a little harm or ill-will to another, for whatever reason.

As careful as I've been, I found my first ding today. Hopefully it'll get PDR'd and I can have a perfect car again. I've seen so many Porsches that are perfect, and also parking among ordinary cars, that I suspect PDR must be the answer!

Agreed. That'll get you keyed for sure.

I just park at the ends of lots, away from other parked cars. It's a slight inconvenience to me having to walk further to the store or whatever, but at least I'm not inconveniencing others (i.e., like the double parked 6er).
