Its -2F right now in Tulsa with a high of 5F. Definitely not a normal winter for us.

How is everyone’s electricity bill? I use Griddy and it’s astronomically ridiculous!

I guess, either keep a bit of water running or shut off water to the house. This is scary for around here.
As long as your house has insulation you don't need to keep water running. We don't do that and it was a high of -9 yesterday. All you really need to do is make sure you don't have hoses or external water sources still hooked up.

I suspect a lot of homes in TX like other hotter locations don't have basements but crawl spaces that likely aren't insulated to pipes may be exposed to the cold. If they have PEX pipes at least they won't burst when frozen.

We drove through the mess yesterday in NW TX and SE NM. The interstates were chaos. US highways, as usual, were outstanding. Snow covered, but open and without problems or drama.

0 degrees F was the lowest reading we found. Wind turbines in TX were cranking. Pump jacks were pumping.

Saw lots of antelope and some mule deer which was cool, and something we don’t see in the Midwest.

Went to work this morning only to be sent straight home. On the way home, in Folsom, Louisiana, slush and snow on the road. One suv in the ditch. Police on scene. Currently sitting by the fireplace. Power has been out for about 2 hours now and still not on.

There are 5 dogs (German Shepherds) in this house that cannot go outside and play and I have a 6 year old who doesn’t have access to the wifi, Disney channel, or Netflix because the power is out.

Heaven help me.

Man am I enjoying this sunny 80 Degree weather in Fort Lauderdale.

My family's all in Nashville and everyone has either been sent home or told to work from home because the ice is so bad from all of this.

Round one of shoveling done. Maybe 3-4" that I won't have to shovel later. Now the second wave of snow is about to hit. Hopefully it's the same powdery stuff and only another 3-4".

Just saw video from someone's security camera in Nashville. Person backed out of there driveway in a truck and promptly began sliding down the street sideways! Stay home.

Meanwhile in Canada, it's a little below freezing and were expecting up to another foot of snow today. My wife is going out to pick a few things up, and then for me snowblower and cocktails this afternoon.

Untrue my guy. I have heard of several home owners in my city and surrounding areas whose pipes have frozen over and have no running water! All local news stations advised to keep your water dripping or trickling indoors. We've done this since Saturday night.

Time to start a pipe repair business for the upcoming weeks

No rolling blackouts here.

Am I weird for being concerned about these damn crustaceans? Temperature in the house has significantly dropped in the last two hours. I think I’m going to put a towel in a shoebox and move them out of their cold glass cage. 🤣 Never thought I’d have to worry about this .....

If the only crustaceans you're worried about are crabs, don't move them around too much... you don't want them going everywhere.

I put live blue claw crabs in the freezer for a few so they go to sleep and make it easier to rip their backs off before cooking without getting my finger snapped off. I think they'll be fine.

That’s why I figured I’d put them in a shoe box with a warm hand towel. They are great climbers and move pretty quickly. A shoebox should be able to contain them. Their tank has to be kept at 72 degrees minimum and without electricity their heating pad isn’t warming it up. The inside house temperature is getting pretty cold now. We’re 4 hours without power at this point.

That is what the modes default to when I fire up. Then a tap of the M1 and I get my settings.
