A FAIR comparison was not performed, and that was the basis for my gripe. The Tesla is a quick car to about 80mph from a dead stop, but it isn't a fast car by any means once already moving. those drag videos are all conducted in the Tesla's favor and unfair to the other vehicles. It would be like a player comparison of free throw shooting between Shaq and Steph Curry and then concluding that since Curry is a far superior free throw shooter, he is definitively a better NBA player than Shaq. |

Part of the issue with Tesla--and why people seem to love pointing it out when it gets beat-- is that when you go to look at one the sales people invariably try to claim it is the "fastest car" out there only because its 0-60 times are fast. A few times I got the feeling it was on the verge of a religious belief how good they thought the Tesla is. One sales guy told me the new SUV will be "the best car in the world".
I think many, including myself, think the performance claims are disingenuous. Specifically, trying to compare the performance to some super car/mega cars yet completely ignoring the fact that a tesla would get obliterated on a track (or 60-120 accelleration) vs any one of the cars they compare to orally. In reality, it does accelerate fast zero to sixty fast. It has a lot of storage and some smart features. However, given its price, the seats are a joke and the interior is also not so great compared to other circa 100K sedans. Not saying it is a bad car--in fact for an electric car it is great. Tesla, however, does not have much competition yet. It will be interesting to see what the Germans come up with when they get full swing into electric cars. I think Tesla will have to vastly improve the interior when that happens. |

The tesla can be the fastest car in one or a few areas. We seem to have a hyper-sensitivity to straight-line performance for some reason, so when something comes along that can be faster in some straight line comparisons, it illicits a unwarranted negative reaction IMO. It may not be the best car ever, the cheapest car ever, the fastest car ever, the roomiest car ever, but it is a landmark car no matter how you slice it. It will be remembered as the first practical electric car brought to the masses. BTW, people raced those subarus all the time to 60 or in 1/8 mile competitions where they wouldn't be overcome by the higher whp cars. I may have "taken" more than a few cars that would beat me in other situations/measures... |

Yes, but Subaru does not claim to be the fastest Sedan in the world. |
