One thing I don't understand... was your friend in the M3 parked between 2 cars? I don't want to be a wet blanket here, but based on the picture, it looks like your friend could have moved a few inches forward to avoid all this in the first place.

Also, even though your friend is a car guy and knows how much distance to leave, that doesn't mean the person parked behind him is a good driver. I am not saying in any way that this was your friend's fault. I just don't trust other people to do the right thing, so I put it on myself to try and avoid other people's mistakes.

I think what really happened here was a guy was having a bad day, probably regretting some things about his own life. Then he pulls up behind a brand new $90,000 car belonging to someone clearly younger and better off than he is. Instead of starting out by asking politely, this guy jumps to the conslusion that the younger guy will be a BMW stereotype. While most people wouldn't go as far as to bump into someone, he's probably at a point where he just doesn't care what happens next. Pathetic and unjustified but this is the world we live in. People like that are not news, but the fact that he got away with it blows my mind.

Racism is involved only when a persons ethnicity is brought up in a negative light, not when a douche in an $80,000 car can't move his car for an asshole who owns a piece of shit $500 metal box on wheels.

He was the last of the line when the man pulled behind him. He and his friend were just leaving the vehicle when the man started it.

It's hilarious how pissed I am for them. Both him and his wife are good friends of mine, and even days later I can't for the life of me think of an other reason than racism to explain it all.


Sure the man had a bad day, but who acts like that? Some bullies never leave the school grounds.

Of course he didn't give a shit. You see his bumper? The BMW is far from the first thing he's hit. If I saw that when I was getting out of my car, I would have moved even if he didn't say anything - probably to another block.

I find this hilarious, since it has slapped me in the face here so many times.

When we moved here the hotel we lived in had a staff of Mexicans mainly. It was horrible to watch how the guests threated the staff and I could from the first week list a lot of shit I saw.

On my last road trip I went to wash my car to a bad neighborhood (according to the valet at the hotel) and I was talking to the local kids while doing it, when the cops showed up and told them to fuck off. They told me to go away so I could be safe, but nobody checked my or the cars papers. It was a black part of town.

Europe as mentioned is not better in many ways, as is no other, but we talk about our issues. Here I'm like some fucking princess while a guy who is never even rude to anyone gets threated like shit for parking correctly.

It's not my intention to make this Europe vs America thread, it's me pointing out (mainly to myself) that if I keep on cashing the white chick privileges, aren't I also to blame for this problem?

For you, I think its more the "chick" part than the "white" part, but if it were me doing what you did, I would probably have eaten a police baton more than once. In this parking situation it could have been anything... Sucks like hell though.

I don't think you are part of the problem. Its a huge step to be able to acknowledge that privilege to a certain demographic exists. This topic really hits home for me on multiple levels. And I know people get all nutso when they hear the term "white privilege", but it exists. And I think the bigger problem in this country is that some people refuse to acknowledge it and others have no idea what it even is.

Here's an example of what i mean by white privilege. I grew up in a very blue collar, racially diverse neighborhood. However, it was a very safe neighborhood. No crime, left our doors unlocked, and never could even dream of anybody getting shot in the neighborhood...that sort of thing. We had a police force (all white as far we could tell) that patroled the area but never really engage with the community. When I was 12, me and some friends were playing with some toy guns, like most kids do. The next thing I know, three police cars come along at high speed, they jump out of their car and assume full attack position with guns drawn and using the doors as protection. Simultaneously, they are yelling at us things like "freeze motherf'er". Now remember we are a bunch of 12 year olds. Anyways, they line us up and search us while one cop has his gun drawn and aimed at us the entire time. Eventually, they realize we're just being kids playing with toys.

Now, I ask you. Would this happen in a "white neighborhood"? This is what white privilege looks like.

I dont know if you want a medal for being a white person who's not racist or it's the wine talking. Most Whites in America condemn acts of racism and are good people.

When i was in college, i worked at a Marriott, the vast majority of guests treated the staff, black, white, Asian, Latino etc. with respect.

The European guests were the worse, never tipped the waiters etc. and were rude.

It's sad that you're exploiting a parking dispute and turned it into race-baiting to make yourself look like the hero.

My lesson was a complete one when my school got this new cleaning lady. I was on the third grade and I spent my after school time in the library. The lady talked with me, and she was really nice. Soon our families become friends and my parents asked them for a dinner to our house since her son was the same age as i.

Our neighbor objected (and this was again in Finland, and then in the 90's we didn't have many other races there), his problem was that we ( my dad and I had at that time multiple contacts and friends outside the whiteness of our country) by bringing immigrants to our prestige neighborhood were opening up doors that should be shut.

The cleaning lady had been in Finland for 6 months, and spoke our difficult language already. In china she was a surgeon and her husband was a geologist who got thrown out because he made a notion of a dig not being safe for the workers.

I ended up on my dads shit list because I looked down. That night he kindly said to me that he is ashamed of me. "Anna. You truly have to know better to understand that this all is fear but if I see you ever being ashamed of your friends because someone tries to be better than them, fuck it. As a parent I've failed completely."

Now I have friends everywhere. I'm lucky they don't look down on me. I get what my dad was trying to say but that happened 20+ years ago.

Before racist shit happens, the guy who hit the bumper should have apologized, and give the M3 owner the insurance.

I don't know what kinda retarded fak pat-a-cake pat-a-cake games people are playing, but you damage a car, you pay for it.

What to do:
1. YOU HIT A G-DAMN CAR, APOLOGIZE AND GIVE EM THE INSURANCE INFO.

What NOT to do:
1. Act crazy thinking "acting crazy" and potentially violent can get you off the hook to pay for the damage you caused.

2. Try to use violence/physical threat with to get out of the damage.
By doing this, you have high probability to get shot legally. (except sissy fuk pat-a-cake pat-a-cake game playing states). It is not worth dying trying to be manipulative with violence PLUS racial slurs/being @sshole/etc.
