This could be the basis for a good thread: Your first German car driving experience.

Start with a big one.
Also, don't try and build an autocross car when everyone around you is just into drag racing. And the only shops around are only into drag racing. And the only race courses around are drag strips.

Late 99, did u18 in 2017. He wanted to play in college...told him it was time to grow up. There's a point you realize its not a career.

Fun while it lasted...got some nice jerseys hanging in the gameroom. But the jerseys come at a cost.

I did pretty well with only a dirt track race shop nearby. Most of the dirt track suspension parts and hardware crossed over nicely onto my A-Mod project car, and they even had a shock dyno and did damper tuning to your specs. Several coneheads in the area bought their Snell SA helmets there, and I picked up one that had some sort of rubber coating on it so that pebbles kicked up from the front tires on my open-wheel car didn't chip up the gel coat on my stock class helmet.

Funny drag racing story. One of the neighboring SCCA regions used to run their autox events at a well-known drag strip. After a day in the cones, a half dozen of us went and ran the evening drags for fun. After two runs, a woman working the grid came over and asked me what I thought about drag racing compared to autox. I handed her my two time slips...with .508 and .513 reaction times (.500 is perfect, and .499 is a red light)...and asked her if they were any good for someone who had never drag raced before? She said that most of the drivers in the grid would kill to have one of those reaction times per night. Never went drag racing again, since I found it even more boring than the main straight on the SLime Rock Park road course as soon as the launch from the tree was over.....

Bought a house in 2000
Sold house for double in 2008 ($150k profit)
Moved from NJ and bought gigantic house in WI, dumped all of profit on downpayment
2008 housing crash, recession destroyed my livelihood
Escaped back to NJ with $10k to start over
Sold home for exactly what we owed, walked with nothing but our belongings. Upside was no foreclosure, no short sale
I still over it.

1) Sold all my Tesla stock in mid 2018 when Elon was going off the rails firing his top management and accusing cave diving rescuers of being pedos.

2) Bought a house in 2005 and sold that house in 2010.

Interestingly, unlike a lot of you, my divorce doesn't even register in the top 10. I've lost more in one drunken night in Vegas than I did on my divorce. $300 for a paralegal and half our savings account which at the time amounted to $600. So, $900 all in. Done. Kick rocks bitch. The only good thing about getting married at 21 is that you can get divorced at 22 and recover fast!

Loved this car. Supreme enjoyment driving it. But it was at the dealer for one repair or another almost monthly. I dropped a ton of cash into that car. Still, I was sad to see it go.

I wonder how the 735i before this generation was. Mustve been reliable I think because these 4.4 V8s and the electronics around it are funny with age.

@M_Six...I had no such issues with my ‘01 740il, same color and rims as yours! It was only done in by Shi*ty Sandy in 2012 or I may still have it!
