My friend meanwhile I'm sure you know what was wrong with MAX's car .
As I said his front spoiler was 7degrees off ..Confirmed by Horner and Marko.
Ham's front spoiler was 100% OK. And he walked on the grass as well ...
HAM lost there 20 sec. with his walk in the park , not bad for the GOAT ! While MAX danced a 360 X 2 in P2, because in the pit they transformed his front spoiler in a horizontal Pisa Tower !

At the start MAX lost 6 places and 8 sec. by the lack of grip . All the other teams started the race in second gear and found by this much better traction .
The HONDA PU can not start in second gear . The Honda would stall in second gear .
I'm not sure if any other driver could finish the race in MAX' car .
Regarding MAX's issues during the race , is P6 absolutely not too bad.

Max lost 6 places at the start because he stood on the throttle and sat there with his wheel spinning while drivers with better throttle control drove past him...his fault no one elses.
Also Verstappen drove for 5+ laps after his bad wing setting change and before his super spin...plenty of time for a decent driver to asses the level of front end grip that he had and how the balance of the car had changed.
But he followed too close to Perez, went onto the wet kerb and ran out of talent.
Taking out the time lost to various spins and the extra pit stop would have seen him much better than 6th.

So I still don't think it's fair to compare Lewis and Max's first couple of seasons.

Lewis did an incredible job in his first season. He also had too many crashes in his next few seasons, including crashing into stationary cars in the pitlane in Canada when there was a clear red light.

Rosberg might have forced him off, but Lewis was the one that kept his foot in during an always 100% futile attempt to keep the overtake going. He lost control and hit Rosberg.


So he's made enough errors like Max.


It's also worth mentioning that the Red Bull clearly has a sensitive back end (ooh err) as Albon has found quite a lot. Max lost it in the wet in a corner following extremely closely to the car infront.
If you watch the footage from Spa when Perez(?) has the broken wing and moves across the back of another car, the violence of the wake as he passes right behind shakes the wing loads, but off to either side the wing was still. That's what caused Danny Ric to lose almost all front downforce in Baku when the RBs crashed. It's likely what upset Max's car in Turkey, far more than his driving.

And I say that with some significant credibility in aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics, although not specifically in the field of motorsport.

Fiction. ROS derated and shut the door. He even admitted as such in interviews. Had ROS been in an opposing chassis, there would have been a penalty.

Lauda admonished Lewis about not waiting because ROS derated but the fault was clearly on the side of ROS.

At 13 seconds ROS forces HAM off the track. He is not on the racing line and doesn't leave room to race. The tactics of his mentor...MSC.

Rosberg was the one that forced Lewis off track, I totally get that, and I even said as much above.

But Lewis was the one who kept the throttle pinned once he was off the track. That's what caused him to lose control and crash into Rosberg.


So Rosberg was in the wrong, but Lewis was the master of his own destiny there... he still could have avoided it becoming a crash. All he had to do was lift off, even a little bit, and pull back onto the track in 2nd place.

Lewis today would lift I think. Because he's got a more long-term big picture thinking process. But 5 years ago even he still had a bit of rashness.


It was an entirely avoidable accident by either party. Lewis had full ability to avoid it becoming a crash, and did not.
It's better to be alright than in the right.

Thats an interesting point...odd though that the AlphaTauri also used first gear in the other Honda-powered cars and had better getaways.
Maybe they short shifted into 2nd.

Last sunday we didn't get the chance to see who drove the fastest car .
1- By the new asphalt layer
2- By the oil on the top layer from the new asphalt
3- By the above floating oil on water by the rain

In normal conditions the Merc is the fastest car of the decade .
Last sunday HAM had a lot of luck on his side , by his walk in the park his car could be damaged followed by a game over (DNF)
