She looked into it but could not find an attorney to take the case. In fact our own insurance company was completely unhelpful. Not to mention 50/50 fault was also a new one to me. I guess to cut down on the "dive and squat" scams is my best guess.

Uhmm is this an attempt at humor? For most people’s day to day needs it sure would be nice if BMW just allowed the radio to shut off when the car door opens after you shut down the car. Stick to your day job…..

tldr; my car has no technology that I do not like. I love my car!
I'm pleased and satisfied that the HVAC on my car is easily and manually adjustable and that I can choose radio stations via its iDrive rotary knob. I have no idea what else my car offers in the way of... Since whatever I'm missing isn't anything I'm missing – whatever that may be – there's nothing for me to dislike. Mine is a superb car just the way it is.

Paging cmyx6go or is she still writing her treatise?
2019 Highlander has start/stop. Luckily not available on my 23 Tacoma. I WISH my radio would stay on after I turn off the key though. Gathering my stuff, putting the sun shield, can't stand to hear myself sing.

I was OK with the lane departure in my 2019 when the steering wheel would vibrate if I was drifting out of my lane. Now in the 2022, it automatically pulls you over. I shut that shit off. The only time I drift is if I am avoiding a pothole or dodging someone drifting into my lane. And with so much construction, it can't differentiate between the temporary lane markings. I think the car manufacturers /gov't are putting this tech in for those that don't pay attention when they drive. It's pretty ironic that at the same time they put in all these safety features they are doing away with buttons and forcing you to pay less attention to the road and actually driving. You happy now, UncleWede

i wouldn't say tech that I dislike but more tech just seems to be unnecessary-
1) auto start stop... this offers no value to anyone... especially mpg 2) in car navigation from the manufacturer... with apple car play and android auto, you are automatically on the losing side of the equation with updates etc 3) self park - it doesn't really work and who actually uses it? 4) bmw gesture control - what and why lol? 5) any bmw voice controls... they are so slow compared to siri in the iphone i just dont want to use them

When I really want to get away, I drive the 77 Beetle or ride my custom softtail. The only navigation is what's left of my grey matter.

People already started to get distracted with being on their phones all the time. Now you have cars that decide literally everything for you. People have gotten stupid when it comes to driving. Just for context I spend around 3 to 4 hours driving when I need to head in to the office (usually twice a week). I see a LOT of stupid ass people on the road that have no concept of what it means to drive properly anymore. People forget that in inclement weather (rain, fog, etc) you're supposed to have your lights on and that "auto" lights in most cars won't turn on automatically, especially in fog. Watching people merge into other vehicles when the "safety" lights on their mirrors are lit up is another one I see ALL the time. I've witnessed multiple Tesla's merge into other cars and those cars have the most amount of "safety" cameras and warnings to let the driver know "Don't do it!" but guess what, doesn't matter. Point being if you're a shitty driver, distracted, or relying on your car to drive for you (which brings on the laziness and lack of needed attention to the road), nothing is going to stop you from messing up your day or somebody else's day.

This reminds me of the days when ads for used cars that had them would include the phrase "radio and heater".

I'll just bring up one of your points regarding the lights. The lights don't work as they should for MOST cars. Yeah they'll turn on at night, sure absolutely. But when it rains or is foggy out, they absolutely do not. Some NEWER vehicles have lights that turn on when you turn on the wipers but that's NEWER vehicles. Not everyone on the road is driving a 2024 model car (this isn't an exact year just a throw-out year date). Tech might be helping make SOME things safer but at the same time, it is absolutely making people less aware and more incompetent when it comes to driving and paying attention to what they should be doing on the road.
