If you can swing the cost of the cars on your list you can swing the cost of repairs on a Macan or Panamera. My vote would be a 2014-16 Panamera Turbo S or GTS. I have a Turbo S and it's an amazing daily, the air suspension is awesome for those crappy roads, it's still fast as hell (you do feel the weight though), and it's very comfortable. Macan GTS was also a great daily.

Out of the cars on your list, I'd go with the 991.1 GTS, it's probably the best overall 911 I've had and I am now on my 8th different version of 911's. The GT3 is the most exciting but I found myself not driving it nearly as often because of how harsh it can be especially on bad roads. There's also a solid $80k delta between those two options. While it doesn't look as good as the coupe, being able to put the top down on the convertible when it's nice out is worth the sacrifice in the looks department IMO.

Oh and I’ll also throw the 392 wrangler out there as a DD. Incredibly awesome car, just horrendous gas mileage and small gas tank so you’re gonna be stopping for gas every 3 days.

I just drove 1000 miles through Canada and paid over $2 per liter for 91 in some places. But the OP drives only 6000 miles per year so filling up should not be that expensive or that much time.

two car solution is fine if you're actually going to drive both.

I don't drive my mundane truck even though it was meant to be my daily, I drive the Civic Type R every day so the boring daily driver thing doesn't really work.

I don't drive anything else really because I have two kids and have been having to pick them up from school every day so the Civic or truck were the only options.

Starting next month they will both be at the same school so my wife gets pickup and drop off duty so we will see if I drive them all on rotation.

I used to do drop off and pick up at daycare for my two and it was always the best part of my day. My son (almost 3, I can't believe what a big boy he's turning into &#128557 was just chatting about his day and asking questions about everything he saw outside the whole ride back and it was honestly the best.

Honestly, something like a CTR or Elantra/Kona N is probably the best thing going for a n entertaining daily if you don't care about over the top performance and luxury. They're reliable, the Hyundai's have hella warranty, so of you're not a "fix on Sunday, work on Monday" kinda guy, it's hard to do much better than that.

On the other hand, if you are a fix it yourself kinda guy, it's REALLY hard to get more car for the money than a W211 E500 or E55 or even an E320 CDI. Spacious, comfortable, most of the modern features were either available or can be added now, drive great, rode great, cheap, and overall fairly reliable (or at least they're fairly maintainable). Some late 00s Cadillacs are in the same boat, the STS was a great car all around especially with the 3.6L (or the V with the supercharged V8), the DTS was the most spacious and comfortable boat ever, it's all a question of money and time.

Nah, agree to disagree. We are well past the cute stage. Now it's "let's call mom and see what we are having for dinner." Then when they find out it's chicken I get to hear them moan and cry about how they don't want chicken.

I'll clarify, "daycare" is really summer camp partly at their old daycare, they are both in elementary school now. The days of "Daddy whats a stoplight" are over, now it's "Daddy how could Emma VIOLATE MY TRUST like that????"

Those H3Ts were such a good idea. I had a Colorado crew cab with the 5.3 V8 and the ZQ8 sport package. That was the best little truck ever. It was a great daily, did all the truck stuff, was cheap so I didn't worry about itngett scratched up doing work. It was pretty cheap inside, yes, and it was a smidge too small to fit car seats behind normal size adults, but other than that, it was about the perfect truck.

4.8L V8 in the Panamera is to be avoided. A list of problems late in life not the least of which is failed purge valve leading to intake manifold explosion. rennlist has the details.

I love mine. I consolidated a Wrangler and my F150 into one vehicle with it. Unfortunately, I took it to New England in the winter too many times. Paying the price now just to keep it functional.

If I had to pare down to just 1 vehicle, the H3T would be the one I keep. It does everything well; especially consuming fuel.

I had my E92 M3 and a Range Rover Sport and it worked well for me. I enjoyed the power of the Range and my M3 was paid off and made for really fun back road trips, pretty much every weekend.

Recently I had an IS350 and bought a blackwing for my fun car. Then I traded in the IS for an M550, thinking I needed a better cruiser with more power. Now I'm selling the M550 and keeping the blackwing as my primary car.

Realized that I enjoyed driving the blackwing more than the M550. The M550 was meant to be the daily but it spent more time sitting in the driveway while I drove the blackwing for everything.

Not taking much away from the M550. It's a good cruiser. But it does it too well and makes things boring. If that makes sense.
