This car is a total stunner. Looks better than most exotics. IMO the AMG engine and DCT would be the way to go as that's a solid engine.

I am a fan! I absolutely love it. Hydraulic Steering, 3 pedals, and two solid engine options all packaged beautifully...what isnt there to love.

As someone with a deposit down in the hopes of an allocation on a 4.0 GTS, this intially had me a little confused
then I thought more about it: normally aspirated flat six vs supercharged camry engine (wouldn't even consider the 4), porsche reliability vs lotus unpredictability, one of the best manuals in the biz vs an ok one, porsche resale value vs lotus depreciation This thing is a looker, so a no brainer for someone looking to flex but don't think it's overall a better buy than a 4.0 GTS... |

I have never been a huge Lotus fan (lookswise - performance has obviously always been there) but I can this is the first Lotus I have seen that makes me say WOW at the styling. Looks are always subjective, but that is a great looking little car to me.
I'll be watching this one. Thanks for sharing.

Rare for me to like many cars right out of the gate - they usually have to grow on me - but I liked that one immediately. Might not transition to me liking the drive, but it's the first one I have been interested in driving to see if I want to own.
In a few years when then initial owner takes the depreciation hit, these might be on my radar.........

1) The supercharged Camry engine should be much cheaper to fix and maintain than the Porsche's flat 6, and I personally like its supercharger's whine. 2) Also even the current Lotus Evora GT (which Emira will replace) has a manual gearbox which is just as crisp-shifting as the best ones that Porsche offers. So I think the new Lotus will be quite competitive with the Cayman 4.0, assuming it is similarly priced. |

IDK about depreciation. Exige price is almost what I bought it for 14 years ago. Reliability is great especially with Toyota motor & drivetrain. I have no complaints and I love the car. I will keep this car forever.

The only Lotus I've ever driven is a late model Evora. I went into the test drive thinking the suspension is going to be the only thing worthwhile in that car, but was quite blown away by how soulful that engine is. The supercharger whine and exhaust were VERY in your face, I loved it. Unfortunately, the shifting definitely was not as good as I hoped it would be. I know it's not potentially 1 to 1, but if somehow in the US it's priced to rival the Cayman S, I think it's a no brainer which way I'd go.

I looked at the evora back in the day and while it was $75000 msrp, to actually get it on the road with reasonable options, it was more like 90K before tax... if the emira comes in at 110K cdn for the v6 manual with reasonable options then it may well be a real debate for me |

Lotus hit a home run with the Emira, I'd take the manual with V6.

So does this come out when the G87 does? Because if it does, there's some market share that Lotus may eat up. 400+hp with a manual transmission, for $70ish thousand? I'll def take one for a test drive.
