Wasn't sure where to post this. I started in the "What song are you listening to" thread, then went to "Confess Here". I think it belongs here....
Somebody make it stop! Since I woke up this morning, Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'round the Old Oak Tree has been playing in my brain non stop. I don't know why. I haven't heard that song in years and years. Shoot me, please.

"Boy, the way Glen Miller played Songs that made the hit parade. Guys like us we had it made. Those were the days. And you knew who you were then, Girls were girls and men were men. Mister, we could use a man Like Herbert Hoover again. Didn’t need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight. Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days." |

...when you used to drive a car with "3 on the tree" and bench seats.
BTW, there were some major advantages to that setup. Just sayin'. |

PITA when the Distributor was on the back of the engine against the firewall
Extra "points" if you know what a distributor is

Ignition points. I've installed many of them while doing tune ups on cars before electronic ignition. The boss where I worked as a teenager called plug, points, and condersers by the term "zappers, gappers, and a sponge" but I never did fully understand why. Maybe the condenser acts as an electronic sponge. |
