FINALLY.... One of the most anticipated sequels for me released it's first official Trailer. And it appears to be a must see.
The first film is one of the most scary and unsettling movies in recent memory. That was 2 years ago...

It was on this day, June 20, Jaws was released in the theater in 1975. Also the year I got married.

Here are some other interesting things that happened on June 20.

I liked The Watchers, M Night's daughter's directorial debut.

I want to like it, but I fear it will be rubbish. I'll give it a try even though it's getting panned by the critics.

Good or bad, it has to be seen. It's Axel Foley and the boys.

Watched last night. I can't say it lived up to the originals but it had some entertaining moments. I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

My family was on vacation and waterskiing when Jaws came out. We were at the pool at night and I ran up to the cabin to get something when I looked at the television and the trailer was running, the girl at the buoy at night. Needless to say, I was a little freaked out when we went skiing the next day.

Saw the second Dune movie. It's OK, some moments of utter brilliance and wonderful visuals as well. The casting of the bald villan was perfect but he felt late to the party and a bit rushed.

Looking at the two movies together, there was a lot of time wasted sitting around, chanting etc, on the whole spiritual side of the sand people. There was definitely room to trim the fat. Casting and writing for the lead female (romantic interest not the mother) was a real weak spot, it just didn't work.

Those movies had the fat trimmed big time from the original “real” story. So much is left out. They are good but in reality Dune should be a mini series of 6-8 episodes.

Really nice, emotional film, Longing starring Richard Gere. It's something different.

Yep, couldn't agree more.
What an overrated steaming pile.

A visual spectacle, yes, as are all Villeneuve movies.
He has a tendency to sacrifice any kind of semblance of decent characters, acting, and story for visual razzle dazzle. I also think most of the actors are mis-cast.

To be fair, Herbert's story is simplistic, reductionist, 'space jesus' crap. Revolutionary, maybe, in its day. But there's not much to work with.

I DO however like the Lynch version. It's a campy silly story with an unintentionally campy film. I think, being produced in the early 80s, meant that the visuals couldn't be nearly as 'serious' as the new one. That's why it works for me as a total B movie. I can appreciate it for that.

Bladerunner 2049 is the Villeneuve exception for me.
I thought it was a great story, dovetailed well with the original, awesome visuals and decent acting.
