Gudas wasn't bad at all last year and is much MUCH cheaper than Niskanen.
AND we retained some of Gudas' salary?
When Gudas keeps his head on straight, he's a pretty good d-man.

I guess the Flyers wanted a good role model for the young kids. Maybe this means they'll finally buy out AHLMac.

Yeah - 2018/2019 was a bit of a rough season for Niskanen. The question really is if he was injured or if he's lost a step. I guess Philly is banking on it being that he was injured in 2018/2019.

Gudas will help add more physicality to the Caps. That's something that most of the rest of the Caps D is missing - except Orpik. I think (but am not sure) that Orpik is retiring.

I too was surprised at the salary retention on the Philly side.

Pitts ships Olli Maata to Chicago for promising youngster Kahun. This seems pretty one-sided in Pittsburgh's favor, am I wrong?

The Flyers bought out Andrew Macdonald.

So essentially turned Amac into Niskanen.

I'm very ok with this trade now.

Maatta isn't bad...I think the pens were hoping he would improve some over his first couple years. He's a solid D that everyone wishes was a little quicker in his foot races.

He was a lock at the #5 D...until everyone returned. Then found himself sitting in that #6 or #7 spot...looking in on some playoff games.

Pens got swept...so whether this is the decision that needed to be made has yet to be seen.

Picked up a faster guy in Kahun who had some PP and PK time on a team that didnt make the playoffs...and only has a year up...Im not sure this is a 'steal' just yet.

Kahun for Maatta...sounds like a kids song meaning no worries. Just putting that out there....

Just saw that. Seems like an overpay/overterm to me (probably more overterm than overpay?). At 29, he definitely should have some good years left, but 8? IDK...

Makes sense. Lots of changes going on in Philly. They should be much tougher next year (especially with a full year with Hart).

Going by last year's stats...San Josie is only paying Karlsson 3.8m per goal

I freaking hope so. It was pretty miserable watching that goalie carousel last year.

Next up Chucky Two Trades needs to sign Hayes and find Starter Hart a decent backup.

EDIT. Dang just saw that the Rangers got Trouba. Thats a good pick-up by them.

Kessel - mostly rumors, the Minnesota one came out about a month ago...but this has not been confirmed by anyone that it actually happened.
