There's Something in the Barn is good if you take it for what it is: just a Xmas mix of genres that doesn't take itself too srsly.

I dunno if I can recommend Leave The World Behind. It has good tension at parts but taking in the whole film, I wasn't satisfied; not to mention it drags on for a bit. Not sure who started this trend of putting cryptic/symbolic stuff in movies that anyone other than some pedantic history nerd would know what they're about and have to watch some YT 'movie explained' video to get more details.

I don't like Marvel/explosion movies and don't wanna be spoon-fed but when it gets like this film, man, what's the pt? I just wanna be entertained by a film w a clear story.

This has potential but I suspect we will get to the end of the movie and not know shit and it just sort of ends.

It was really boring, to be honest.
Not much there.
Racist Julia Roberts is kinda funny, but not sure she was meant to be.

I love and adore my wife and she's terrifyingly smart (four Masters degrees)..... but she *really* gets into Christmas.

And that means Christmas (i.e. Hallmark) movies...... oh God, the Christmas movies.

Hallmark..... Netflix..... whatever. They're all the same. No-name actors who couldn't act themselves out of a paper bag, *maybe* a washed-up third-string actor billed as a "big name" that might have five minutes of screen time. The plots are all identical.... painfully so. The locations are either magically perfect northeast/midwest/west coast towns that couldn't possibly exist or they're in the Kingdom of Buffonia or something goofy like that.

Often, there's the "you're a lowly baker, but are a dead ringer for the princess who wants to escape her life of luxury..... and you see where this is going.

And the worst part?

They make SEQUELS.

We spent a good part of a day this weekend wrapping presents, getting her work gifts sorted, decorating, etc. and she had to have Christmas movies on the entire time while we were doing it.

The horror. Literally-- two minutes in and you've already got the plot figured out, know that the plucky ingenue will get together with the gorgeous heir/inn manager/widow/architect and that the bad guy/girl (usually an ex-girlfriend) will get their comeuppance.

Yay, Christmas spirit.... but I'll trade watching a dozen of those for a single viewing of The Grinch.

Hell, I'll even trade for "Love, Actually" in a pinch.

Wait, how many GOZIRA movies are there right now??? My SIL told me the one she recently watched was classic, almost to the point of actor lips moving that don't match words being heard. THAT is my kind of movie!!!!
