Does Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow on Groundhog Day 2024
Legend has it that if he sees his shadow then winter will continue for another six weeks but if Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow spring will come early. Looks like the spring will come early this year. At least some ham fisted Politician didn't drop him on his head and kill him this year. Me I'm leaving the mower deck in the garage and the plow on the tractor and the BMW in the garage. |

Calm before the storm, today and tomorrow. Then we’re forecasted to get 6 days of rain. Forecasts can change, though.

If a groundhog sees an OCD psycho westie's shadow, does it mean six more weeks of cowering in its burrow?????

Pleasant here today. Sunshine and above freezing temps. Little bit of wind, of course. This is Illinois, after all.

Back to a fairly mild winter here -- no more of that 60s stuff. Lows in the mid-30s. Of course all sorts of plants were fooled by the false spring and small blossoms are visible everywhere.

There's this strange bright yellow thing in the sky here this morning, that we haven't seen for almost three weeks now.

I'm going to be heading out to the clinic this morning to grab a few files and make a few housecalls before the storm gets here. It looks like we'll be closed tomorrow as we expect a bunch of cancellations.

Wet. Very wet. And windy. Was invited to the AT&T down at Pebble Beach today, but they won't let us come and watch, should they decide to even play. Supposed to be 35+ mph winds out there.

I was able to finish my rounds before the system arrived overhead. Now I'm going to have some lunch and cocoon for the rest of the day. The clinic will be closed tomorrow. Everybody stays home and off the roads.

It started snowing Friday morning. It's still snowing now. Friday and Saturday total snow accumulation 45cm (18in) with winds of 60-80kmh (40-50mph). Most business didn't open yesterday or today and even some sections of the Trans Canada Hwy were deemed impassable and closed. It's supposed to continue snowing and blowing all night.
Time for a rum. Luckily there's plenty more on the shelf.

Cape Breton, NS has declared a state of emergency. I wonder why.
It's supposed to intensify overnight.

The news here just reported over 10 inches of rain already in parts of So CA. Be safe.

I hope the people heed the warnings and stay off the road and let the work crew do their job and also not taxing the emergency services by getting into accidents.
Pajamas, coffee and music for me this morning. Happy Monday! |
