When I left Lake Isabella Thursday around noon, it had warmed up to 35.6. Good thing I made it up there and drained the pipes!
Agent couldn't light the pilot on the furnaces, I had no problem. Well, no problem until I had lit the pilot and the furnace, then turned the thermostat down and it went out, and then I shoved an open flame in the pilot hole again. Let's just say there was a bunch of cussin, and I had to pick some stuff that looked a bit like the wallboard from around the furnace off the carpet. LUCKILY, I can still pee outside when the pipes are drained. . .

Nice day today. Partly cloudy and 71°F right now with a high predicted to be 75.
A few days of rain are coming next week. Supposed to be ~2 inches. We can use it. |

It was super-clear here today, mid-50s, and bone-dry with a light breeze. At this time of year, we really couldn't ask for more.
Given the perfect fall in every way we've had and one that seems to still being going on, it won't be difficult to accept whatever is coming our way between now and whenever it begins to warm-up again.

Yesterday and today were both sunny and mid-50s with little wind. Perfect for riding. Got in 30 miles both days. But tomorrow it's going to rain all day and then we're back to 30s and 40s. Ugh.

Warm this weekend then cool down next week with another warm up in the low - mid 50s for Christmas weekend.
I remember last year, we had a horrible ice storm and 5-6 inches of snow on top of the ice for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It was pretty much perfect if you ask me! Open presents with my daughter then go out and play in the snow after! Not this year, looks like its shorts and tshirt weather for me. lol

This was in the wife's Mazda 3 with all-season tires, which made it all the more fun! If I hadn't had things to do, I would have spent the morning doing my own winter car control clinic on one of the many Kenwood Mall's huge parking lots. That was a missed opportunity.

We're still under a flash flood warning here for a bit longer, although the overnight rain is finally ending after 2+ inches fell. Our basement sump pump has been cycling on/off since 2 AM, and the home automation announcer is freaking out OCD psycho dog for some reason whenever it speaks that the sump pump is running or stopped.
The temperature outside is a spring-like 60 F as I write this, and it will likely be the last time that it gets over even 50 F for the rest of 2023. Down in SC at our tree farm, my remote rain gauge is reporting that the same coastal storm system dumped over 4" of rain.....

Started the day with a +3C chime from the car and some light drizzle..
2pm now and it has switched to wet snow with temps dropping below freezing overnight. The weather people are only calling for 1-2 inches of snow total. Expecting the roads to be saltier than the Atlantic by rush hour lol. |

Current radar track but it's moving fast and we should get some sun tomorrow. Just in time as I will be picking-up my Mum at the airport.
Despite the crappy day, I spent most of the afternoon at the local Fire Station with other volunteers to get the Christmas hampers ready for delivery to needy families. As per our tradition, my Mum and I will be visiting the local Seniors' Home to bring some Christmas Cheers to the forgotten residents. |

The nasty system is off to sea. We had one wicked windstorm last night but no power outage. Beautiful sunshine right now just in time to pick-up Mum at the airport in a few hours.

Saturday afternoon I remembered I need to pick up some medicine. Put my t-shirt on, jumped on my motorcycle, and drove over to pharmacy in shorts.
Today they are telling us thunderstorms, possible hail and tornadoes 2-4 inches of rain by Friday, so far .38 a mile from my house at the official weather station for the area. Rain wasn't supposed to arrive here until about 10. I left my felt hat on my door and walked across the street for coffee. Mistake on the hat, sudden pouring rain on the walk back. Now my bald head got all wet and my hair will be a mess all day long
