I need to try more Washington stuff, but it isn’t as easy to find here outside of wine shops. Oregon is getting really good too, but I’m overweight on Pinot so haven’t picked much up. I do plan to open a magnum of Vidon Vineyards from Oregon next holiday season when family is in town though.

Here you go MK. Tried this one at the suggestion of the guy in the liquor store. It tastes as close to Caymus as anything I've tried and $50ish instead of $80ish. I hate this time of the year. I get so much Caymus from employees and business associates for Christmas, it's hard going back.

Just ordered three bottles of Bella Union cab from Wine Express. Same maker as Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel, have had those but never the Bella Union.

I've never had Nickel & Nickel. I've seen it but prefer not to experiment with pricey bottles. Thoughts?

Been years since I've had some but an excellent wine, typical big California cab. They offer several single vineyard wines which each have their own personality. I tend to focus on wines I view as a better value. The Bella Union was $59 a bottle online ($80+ retail) so I figured I'd give it a shot.

It’s a good thread because people are genuinely sharing what they like, without being self conscious about where it comes from or how much it costs. I participated in a few other wine threads in other forums and they devolved into people just bragging about the rare and expensive wines they’ve tried, or shitting on people who mainly drink stuff from the bigger/more well known vineyards as not being hipster enough.

Agreed completely. This thread has been good thus far and I am sure everyone can learn about a new wine and giving a try at any price points.

I've heard of Maroon but never had it. As for the Malbec's, familiar with Three Thieves but not the other two. Have to say it looks like my kind of shopping! Most wine I drink is in the $10-$20 range and I love Malbec. As I noted earlier, there are many great wines out there at reasonable prices.

It's just like horsepower. You don't have to spend the fortune one had to spend in the past to get good quality wine. Truly the democratization of wine.

Yes, I keep my dailys at $15-20 and open a $60+ wine once a month. $100+ would be for special occasions.
