By the RB19's higher suspension setup , it was required to run with a huge rear wing to get the nessesary downforce .
And that made the RB19 slower than LEW's W14 with the cheating 2024 test-floor who was sitting extremely (too)!low .
On top of that and as know , MAX brakes (brake pads) really s@cked throughout the whole race and that cooked his tyres too !

As I said : It's a small miracle that MAX managed to bring it home and even win this race .
Let us not forget that MAX started at P6 with a bad RB19 !
Ohhhh....Man ! What a driver !

Likely speed delta = ride height/plank wear advantage + VER brake issues.

Apart from the boo hoos I'm wondering if the 'Professor' will be attending the Hermanos Rodrigues circuit as Max is almost certain to equal Prost's 51 win tally there.

I mean... just because he's been there for a while doesn't mean it's not still up to the judgement of one person, and people are fallible.

After this race, 50% of the sampled cars were disqualified. Seems absolutely crazy to me as an engineer that more cars weren't sampled after that failure rate.

And it doesn't need to alert the driver, just something easy to check at the end of the race. Heck, a two layered piece of wood with one piece dyed red and the outer one not would be easy enough for them to visually check every car... mirror on a stick, see red, and there's an issue to justify further investigation.

And really, this should be a flag not only for teams to better check their cars and ride height, but also to FIA to make sure teams have adequate time to set up their cars, and also for race circuits to provide a reasonable level of smoothness to the track... doesn't have to be perfect, but that was one bumpy track...

It's been like that for ages. Due to time-constraints it's practically impossible to run all checks on every F1 car. Samples are taken. Those who get caught get a penalty, setting an example for all to refrain from violating the applicable rules. It makes sense that the Technical Delegate decided to check the cars of the pole sitter + the podium finishers. But to ensure that everyone abides, he won't always select those cars for testing.

Same goes for doping control in many sports: practically impossible to test every participant - those who cheat with banned substances play Russian Roulette.

However, mass DSQ ain't impossible. It happened last August: after checking trackers, a whopping ±11K out of 30K marathon runners were DSQ'd ("unsportsmanlike attitude during the event" - use of vehicles and public transport to reduce the length of the endurance challenge):

Yeah, I get it. Lots of regulations, can't police them all at the same time. This is just the talk of the moment. Hopefully they all figure it out drivers don't have to be disqualified after the race, because that's a bummer for everyone.

only 4 cars were checked and 50% of those were DQd.
if you roughly extrapolate, then it's possible around 50% of the field would be DQd if their cars were also checked

Ferrari and Mercedes are fighting for #2 in the WCC. WCC is where the money is to be found for teams. Mercedes (#2 with 344 points) can still be overtaken by Ferrari (#3 with 322 points). A DNF or DSQ by any of the four drivers during any of the 4 races and Brazil Sprint should be avoided by all means.

Also in the WDC, some Ferrari and Mercedes feathers can still be ruffled in the final stage of the season. Sainz (#5 with 171 WDC points) is now closer to Hamilton (#3 with 201 points) than Hamilton is to Perez (240). Ferrari could ask Leclerc to assist Sainz in the uphill battle of snatching #3 away from Hamilton. Old fox Alonso is also still on the prowl (#4 with 183 points). Yet another 0 points for Hamilton could make Hamilton lose P3 in the WDC. So Hamilton better should be cautious with ambitious overtaking maneuvers. He deserves respect for giving his level best to get the #2 spot in the WDC.

With the stakes getting further raised for Ferrari and Mercedes at this stage of the season, it doesn't come as a complete surprise that both teams went out of scope with cars set-up. Maybe they were the only ones. Officially only the Leclerc and Hamilton cars failed to comply.

Let's see how the Ferrari and Mercedes cars perform during the next races compared to the Red Bulls and the McLarens. Can they still keep up with the Red Bulls and McLarens as they managed to do during the COTA race ?

Yes, likely the slowest pace for the RB19 this year.

With the plank rulings and DQ's it's looking that they will fall back from RB substantially, this is a huge blow for Merc and Ferrari and pushes the McLaren ahead.
