As for gym talk I'm pretty mad that when I eat in excess I feel worse yet I looka and feel pumped up and my lifts are so much better. When I eat healthy I lose weight, feel better, but also feel and look flat as shit in the gym also my lifts are much worse. I am constantly bouncing between 190 and 200lbs depending on how I want to eat that week. It's tough finding the perfect balance without going overboard on either end.

Tough question since back pain is pretty vague and there can be numerous issues. Just stay away from movements that cause you pain. Even if the movements you're doing are rather basic or easy, just working your core has a lot of benefits.

Not always considered "diet" but how much water are you drinking? 3 lbs is under 1/2 gallon of retained water. Need to drink MORE so that your body is comfortable that there will be an adequate supply all the time, and not try to hoard it.

Also, WHEN are you measuring your weight? Time of day, you naturally fluctuate.

I think I am a little low on water consumption.

And I usually take my weight after sh*tting. It came out at 167 this morning which is a good weight. The other day when it came out to 169 I had only taken a small chit.

it's always good to drink water throughout the day. i'm not sure how much I drink but I know i'm constantly in and out of the bathroom all day at work. if your piss is clear that's good. if it's yellow than you need more water

People tend to get hung up on that but it's just a number. For instance Tuesday last week I was 191, by Friday I was 198 without feeling much of a difference at all. Weight can fluctuate, it is what it is, what matters is eating health consciously while ensuring that you're getting enough nutrition to grow (if that's your goal).

Form, ancillary muscle developement, persistency.

Side note got the chocolate caramel pretzel protein flavor yesterday in the mail, didn't taste any caramel or pretzel but I did mix w/ peanut butter, still tasty tho.

+1.

You want muscle growth, you have to be in a calorie surplus unless you are just starting out and a newbie to lifting. It's a fine line we walk between eating enough calories to trigger growth, but not get too fat in other areas.

Also as you get heavier, your body will gravitate towards partitioning your extra calories to unwanted areas. It's called a "P-Ratio". (Partitioning Ratio). You can affect this to a certain bit such as how you combine your foods, but you will reach a point where you have to slow down....sometimes painfully slow.

I find that if I get above 12%, my body shifts towards putting fat on a little more easier. But I'm lucky in that my body-fat is distributed more evenly.....so I can still see abs at 12%.

As for any exercise you want to progress at....you just have to work that exercise. Make sure you are using proper form, and then work every variation of it. You get better at it by performing it.

And as someone else mentioned....Lats play a major role in Bench Pressing. If your back is weak, your bench will stop progressing at some point. When you bench, you aren't just using your pectoral muscles. You are using lats and triceps if you are setting up the right way.

You have to learn how to engage all of these even if it means lowering the weight and learning the proper form all over again.

Then repeating the process over and over. It's taken me 15+ years to get to the point of where I am at currently. And the last 5 years have been more focused on diet than anything.

I only use water now...but when I did use milk I had the same issue. One thing that helped was getting those generic lactose tablets. You get like 30 of them for about 5 bucks at a local grocery store.

Chew one up about 5-10 minutes before your shake, and I had no issues. Never use to be lactose intolerant .... but as I've gotten older it started affecting me.

But I used those pills with great results for a couple of years before cutting milk out of my diet.

I have chest and biceps in the morning.

Programming has my last few sets of flat bench in the 365 range. I haven't been in that range since last years charity bench contest at my gym!

It's odd for me. Cheese, Ice Cream don't affect me. A lot of milk leaves me feeling like "bleh".

But now I can use that one organic high protein milk that's out and have no issues.

But since I only have an Intra with unflavored hydrolyzed whey, and a post shake with unflavored hydrolyzed casein....I just use water. Any other time I'm eating whole foods.

Had a decent 3.7 run last night, but my blood sugar crashed about 1 mile out (and my new CGM was buzzing the whole time) It's tough to finish strong with no sugar to feed the muscles.

June 6 I'm carrying the Special Olympics torch again!!!

You are supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces a day. That is without exercise. I’ve been drinking hydrogen water during and at end of my workouts lately. My recovery has been much better!

I'm the same way, cheese and ice cream are not issue at all. I use to drink so much milk too, but anymore I just don't feel the best after. I haven't had any experience using organic high protein milks, I'll keep my eye out for them.

Can't believe you go unflavored, I look forward to my shake everyday because it's mighty tasty and easy to stomach. 12oz water, handful of ice cubes, scoop an half of protein, and a heep of peanut butter all blended up, so damn good haha.
