Right click on My Computer and click properties and it'll pull up your system information, including what version of Vista you are running

You have to be either a Capricorn or a Sagittarius to do it...

I completely disagree.

I have xp at work vista at home.

If I open 'my computer' for example at work, I get exactly what I want

If I open 'my computer' at home I get sort of what I want, with a lot of other options surrounding what I want that I will never use.

Since I use computers at least 8-9 hours a day I guess I like stuff clean, organizied, efficient.

Vista pollutes the screen with a bunch of garbage that doesn't really belong in that spot IMO..

And the icons piss me off too. They were much simpler, much easier to see in XP. The Vertical folder with a 2 pixel thumbnail in Vista isn't really helpful to me, compared to a full thumbnail in XP where I can see what pictures are really contained in there..

There's always tons of sh!t running in the background that you can't get rid of. Always. If you do kill it, it turns on a second later.

Little stuff.. If I could wipe the disk clean and go to XP, I would in a heartbeat.

I can list a lot more things too.

Why did they move install/uninstall programs to a line in 'my computer' folder for example from the control panel. To me, I really think that belongs in control panel. I go to it when I want to go to it. Having it located in a bar in any folder is asking to accidentally remove software from your computer..

again thats a good example, this is all shit that can be configured, vista has a BETTER ability to see whats in the folders then XP

i think the main issue people have is how vista comes default, and are to lazy or something else to figure out how to configure it

its IN the control panel, it has just been renamed to "programs" again, stop knocking shit because its changed and is not what your used to

wow, thats awsome that theres a button in my computer too actually, most of us browse MC for programs to get rid of then have to go through the CP anyway, nice to have the button to avoid that step

and please note, im not a vista fanboi, come up with a legitimate complaint (like mallocing double the ram for 3d rendering, which has since been hotfixed) and ill agree 100% but all these complaints are just dumb little things from people who dont know how to properly configure software

If you can tell me how to configure vista to show a large thumbnail picture on a folder that takes up the whole folder (so you can actually see what you're looking at) and not a small sliver coming out of a folder, I would greatly appreciate that.

just a thought, but have you tried folder options? before that, setting to large thumbnails even

on thing that windows has ALWAYS done is make the GUI from the earlier version (at the least usually farther back) available to the user, so it will be there somewhere you just have to find it

I've looked all over. The only thing I found that you can do is zoom in so far that the icons can be seen from space. Just then can you make out what that sliver of a picture is. If you can find anything to go back to xp style picture thumbnails, please let me know..

I'm running XP on my desktop (dell xps 700) and Vista home premium on my laptop (Vaio SZ-240P) and I absolutely hate vista. I can't believe I was talked into that "upgrade." I don't have the original software. Does anyone have a feasbile (<$400) to change back? It'd be nice for the VAIO keyboard shortcuts (S1, S2, volume control, brightness control) to work as well.
