Just to let you guys know, I've purchased BB 8520 about a month ago. It was cheap with extended contract.
I thought I'd try out value line Blackberry first before I get into serious ones. So far, I realized why so many people from students to businessmen uses blackberry. It is a phone, but it also can be many other things. I feel much more comfortable with this phone in my pocket when I don't have a laptop with me since it can do a lot of things. The EDGE service is slow as expected, but I mainly planned on using EDGE for email/bank acct check, and quick map direction purposes. It does the job. Due to my super low expectation for EDGE speed, I was actually a bit surprised at the web browsing speed. It wasn't too bad at all. Of course, switch to WiFi UMA, you almost don't need a laptop. So far, trackpad has been working great! I've used the trackball before from someone's BB before, and it was nice. Trackpad has pros and cons just like the trackball. Its scrolling speed is alot slower than trackball so sometimes its very annoying. Also, your fingers better be clean all the times, because when sweaty or sticky, it is hard to use the trackpad smoothly. Other than that, trackpad is awesome. It provides a lot more precise/accurate movement than trackball. Thousands of applications to choose from, simple yet detailed interface structure, adjustability/customizable flexibility, and great design makes you feel completely satisfied. If anyone holding on to purchase of blackberry, I definitely recommand it. This is my all-time favorite phone since years ago. And trust me, I've been through almost all kinds of phones before blackberry.
