Similar experience. I've always believed as technology improves, perhaps Michelin isn't always the best choice but time and time again, I'm proven wrong and always revert back to Michelin.

That being said, coming back to Michelin after straying away, I get to relive the experience of why I like them so much.

I doubt you've tried the Sport Contact 7s so perhaps the outcome is correct. The Sport Contact 7s have a 17% increase in service life vs the Sport Contact 6...that's significant on an already good tire.

Maybe. We'll see will someone use them on the Nurburgring. We'll find out soon.

I hadn't really thought about it but - BMW actually DOES still sell somewhat of a driver's car! They just do it through Toyota. Funny enough it's still fairly ugly just for different reasons.

Funny, I feel the same way. Once the Michelins wear to 1/2 tread (or less), wet grip is horrible. And, they wear fairly quickly (not necessarily too fast for the type of performance). I had XGT V4s (a LONG time ago) on my Integra GS-R, and they were essentially slicks at 1/2 tread. Not worth the price, to me anyway.

BTW, best tire I ever had was a Phoenix Stahlflex. I think Phoenix was bought out by Conti, but in any event, sticky, quiet, great in wet. Second best would be Bridgestone S-02s. I have them on my E30 M3 and went to a CCA ADSS. One of the instrutors was an E30 M3 racer, and he couldn't believe the traction on the wet skidpad. They just stuck almost as if there wasn't any water, in the less wet areas (i.e., not a lot of standing water). Made it impossible to maintain a drift with opposite lock!

Ehh. They are comparing a old Michelin tire now. Been out for years! PS5S will be here soon to blow everyone away as always.

I've always been a big fan of continental
I had the conti sport 6 on my rs5 and they were great
Replaced them with the dsw06 plus that are almost as good, but I needed an all season tire. I'd say they are 95% as good in the dry
Better in the wet, and of course better when the temp drops below freezing

Hate pirelli, never had any Pirelli that impressed me

All seasons on a 500hp vehicle? Why
Gotta run summers and winters or just buy the M40i instead.

Are these OEM rims or aftermarket? They look good. Kind of looks like the F12/F13 650i rims

The guy who ran the tests is pretty clued up on tyres.
IIRC he has an M3 and has always been a strong fan of Michelins...he has been allowed to run some previous tyre tests at Michelins private proving ground at Ladoux in France.
So I tend to take his opinion quite seriously....better go watch the rest of the video now!

Coming from a M2CS on PSS and a 718 GT4 on cup2 now driving a GR Yaris on PS4s (Have a 718 GT4RS on order)

I would say the PS4s are somewhat "meaty" (Don't know exactly how the put it correctly) somewhat laggy, some resistance on initial steering input.

The PSS felt much more direct on initial steering input. The video seems to confirm my idea on steering feeling PS4s, saying its is not a very sporty tire due to the softer sidewall.

If this is the case I maybe switching tires or wait for the PS5s

Exact same experience here. I've tried several Contis and Pirellis. Very good tires, but ride quality and performance improved every time I switched to Michelins. No reason to stop now, although I'm sure the results of this one comparison are legit.

Top-of-the-line UHP Michelins are far from a joke. They're universally good, some better than others, but you can't really go wrong.

Having said that, Michelin's reputation and, in recent years, social media marketing have been very strong. They love to sponsor "influencers", just like KW in the suspension world.

I'm sure they are good in that segment, but I've been disappointed with their studless snow tires (Michelin X-Ice) and their all season tires. The studless tires were supposed to be decent and a strong competitor to Blizzak, but they failed miserably. Never again. The all seasons have had bead issues, but thankfully there's a warranty. Still, both times have been a giant PITA on my wife's 335XI.

I guess that's where brand loyalty comes in and choosing what's best for your needs. Maybe Michelin fails in those segments, but excels in the UHP segment. After my experience with the brand though, it's hard for me to spend the money and take the risk, regardless of what the review is. I follow a lot of those influencers and everyone loves their PS4S. I'm sure it's a great tire, but for my needs and experience, Continental has it in the MPS/UHPAS categories.

The big different between the Mich PSS and the PS4S is in cold weather grip.
The PSS start to lose grip quite significantly as temps drop below 7 C.
While the PS4S hang on well even down to 0C.
Makes a big difference if your car is a daily driver in say a UK winter.
