Why isn't V12 vantage with a stick a consideration.... I had to post again Also its seems the 2012 generation models are holding resale better than 2015s. Strange, might be the manual opition. That car aint ever gunna depreciate much. james bond. v12. stick. nuff said

So my two cents are this and I'm really only echoing what a number of folks have already said. The Porsche is a track weapon, no doubt the better performer of the two. Having said that and I'm a Porsche guy, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Porsche....it's ridiculous. The Audi is so unique, you rarely see them and I suspect it will hold it's value as well as anything else might. I think you really need to decide what you really want the car for, track weapon or head turning attention getter.
Good luck, I wish I had this problem. Actually, I'm pretty happy with my 993, and I see it's still going up in value. |

If you plan on tracking it occasionally there is only one obvious solution.

Garage Queen- 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. Investment and fun. The R8 and GT4 will go down in value everyday. A classic/muscle car will increase in value everyday. Daily driver would be a TTRS.

Very true but I never see a car as an investment(some can be and are) but of course am careful either way but I'm not in it to make money, Investments are one thing, cars for me are an escape and a hobby

At this stage I can't see the GT4 really going down in value much if at all. The Porsche market is like the housing market in many large cities. Each day someone wants to pay more for the same thing.

A '69 Roadrunner is an all-time cool car, but what the hell is it doing in a GT4 vs. R8 discussion? Lol.
The GT4 will be the better all-around car. The R8 is the car to get if you want dat supercar experience. I have a GT4, but wouldn't blame you one bit if you picked the R8. I loved it when Audi let me flog their R8 around a racetrack for free during one of their conquest events. |

Garage queens are lame. Whatever you buy drive it all the time and drive it hard...
If it were my money: GT4. I've driven an R8 V10 before. I liked it but didn't love it.

Most important factor is obviously what your intentions are. I for one always vote Porsche .
One thing to consider I did not see discussed is the "community factor" PCA is a great group of enthusiasts and the club has so many types of events local and nationally. I never owned Audi so don't know what the group is like. But for PCA if track days are not your bag, AX, Concours, Rally, ect ect you get it, you could be a part of to totally enhance the experience. If this is just a weekend car for the twists skip both and get a nice 993S and be happy every day. Fck resale if you can afford to keep it you will never want to sell it.

once the 718gt4 is released there should be even more depreciation... manual r8 v10's on the other hand are increasing in value... just to add to the confusion |

Strictly for the garage queen role... have to agree with others on the R8. The market for used GT cars is totally overheated right now and is due for a pullback particularly with the economy trending downwards and the 718 dropping soon.

GT4 but I'm a little biased. Don't factor in long term value because if you drive it you risk some texting driver tapn' dat azz. At that point value is no longer a factor. I say drive both cars and see which one talks to your soul. Make sure to drive a GT4 with LWB seats......they are a must have and enhance the experience...….Phil

I absolutely LOVE the GT4.....but for the same price you could get a nice v8 gen 1 version of the R8 @$65k (still has more power then the GT4)
and still have enough money left over for a couple sea-doo's and gas money for the next five years.... |

No one wants a V8 R8, they have the looks but don't play the part.
