So this is the real Elvis 507. I have read so many stories about who what where the Elvis 507 was and if it still existed. What I find amusing is that if you are a person who is purchasing a 507, you would think the first thing you would do is to see if it was "the Elvis Car", but then again, it just sat in his warehouse with all his other classic restores. Amazing this sat that long and it finally shows up.

I met Albrecht Goertz, the body designer of the 507 (and others), at a BMW CCA meet in Rochester, NY. He was surprised at the attention he got for a 507 design because he won many more awards for his kitchen appliance designs.

^^Thanks for that link. That explains a lot about the King's "lost" 507 serial number #70079. Dackel

Wow, that's a great story.
Garcia's 3.0cs is in better shape though (and half as old) http://laser--wolf.tumblr.com/post/6...1973-bmw-3-0cs

That model almost put BMW out of business. They lost money on all of them. $5K in the 50's was a LOT of money.
Still, it's cool.

The Z8 is definitely a tribute to the 507. While there were certainly thousands more Z8's manufactured they are certainly becoming a modern collectible.

Nice to see the car, the King, and the photos from Ray Barracks. I was there in the same battalion and barracks that Elvis served in when we closed it down in 2007.

American tank crews stationed across Germany routinely travelled to Graf to for weapons qualification training. We used to go twice a year to train tank gunnery. We would ship the tanks and troops by rail, though some soldiers convoyed the trucks on the autobahn. |
