Their electric lineup is very meh, but Mercedes isn't dropping the ball where it truly counts. The upcoming coupes from the three pointed star don't come without their own set of issues (e.g. capacitive touch screens, bloated weight, re-adding B-pillar) but the CLE and AMG GT look absolutely fantastic. I sincerely hope BMW does not destroy the future model Z4 and 8 Series by giving it the pig snout treatment.

MB aesthetics for me are near the top. Reliability sinks the deal, however. I generally buy and hold vehicles, so an engine with scored cylinders or a hybrid system with an expensive and potentially unsupported battery replacement in mid-life are no-gos for me.
The new SL and GT look great. Hopefully they have above-average reliability for MB, which would put those cars in the lower third of industry reliability. |
