Purchased the 07 Z4MR Imola Red in Mar 2010 as the second owner w/12K miles; purchased from Park Place Ltd in Bellevue WA; they had a PPF team on their staff and I had the front bumper, partial hood, mirrors, door edges done in VentureShield PPF (a 3M type film); returned a yr later and had the rocker panels below the doors done from back of front fenders and to the front of rear fenders as well; there was no cutting of PPF while on the car; it was all CNC machine cut to perfection; the initial application was $995 in Mar 2010 and the rocker panels were appx $200 a yr later; currently @ 67K miles and 9+ yrs and the PPF is holding up great and has saved the OEM front end paint.

Over the years not sure how much I have spent on PPF's but for my recently acquired X5M and the way I want it covered, it would be $2600

So what does a smart man do? I teamed up with a buddy of mine who owns a car store and decided to get a 3M PPF certification that way not only I can buy cheap/whole sale roll/s but would save myself $$$$$ on installation as well

Scheduled for a course mid July so we''ll see how that goes.

In the event of a panel getting damaged, I wonder if insurance covers replacing the PPF. 🤔

Noble venture but I can't be bothered w ppf, the car and/or the ppf is gonna get marked up, then what? Replace ruined ppf w a new sheet continuously?

Paint matching isn't that difficult, just find a good shop.

I don't care about resale or keeping it nice for any next owner.
