Rogue rack and concept 2 rower. I have a bow flex max trainer 6 for my room for the early morning power up.
I also recommend getting a wall rack for several different rogue bars, it’s like a gun rack. And a white board for the weeks plan.

OP, you said light weight routine.. we were in the same position, wanted a home gym as our nearest GYM is packed like a zoo, 24/7.. room we have is quite small (9x13) but made it all fit and works perfect.. again this is all light stuff and we do our running outside.. Tonal really made a difference as there are lots of diff exercise that can be done with this cable set up.. when compared to annual cost of two memberships it was a no brainer..

jmg any updates?

There are days I want to take my third stall and put a squat rack with some eleiko bumper plates.

However, my house sucks any motivation from me. I'd rather drive a mile to the gym and work out there. More motivating when I see others.

With that said, I still want a gym in my garage haha

Ditto. We started with an affordable stationary bike but I needed more motivation. A gym opened up nearby with more equipment than I would ever afford. We have personal trainers going through a circuit and I find it more effective having someone push me than I every would alone. My son started playing basketball, so I put a hoop up and that's enough to get out and move for being at home. It's much more convenient than basically losing a room just for gym equipment.

It sounds like you just want a gym in the house but may not (yet) be serious about working out. Don't spend so much or you could just be getting expensive equipment just to have it collect dust.

My 2 cents - If you have limited time/discipline/inspiration in a day and can only workout once, get a rowing machine. You'll achieve a lot more rowing than running on a treadmill or elliptical.

If you are semi serious, then get a decent set of dumb bells. You can get massive gains just working out with dumb bells. I prefer them to bar bells.

If you're hardcore then get a proper rack with bars for squatting and benching.

I have dumbbells. I now go to the local gym. I can do my dead lifts and rowing there!

It will be good for you to get a power rack. It contains a bench and rack and it will help you to save more space. It will be good to support your dumbells and a barbell as well as you can train there. there you can perform a set of exercises for all muscle groups, very compact and convenient.

your hitting a heavy bag every day ? I thought that was too intense for the shoulders ? But I don't really know.

I’d add a Peloton bike and a treadmill. I bought the former for my wife and she’s used it 175 times since Jan 1st. She’s hasn’t looked better in 20 yrs. I also added a water rowing machine, like the one in House of Cards. Nice piece.

The pandemic shutdown forced us to build a garage gym. A 2-car garage that we still park 2 cars in. So we went with the Rogue Fitness folding squat rack. Buy quality, buy once. We love our home gym. Never will we be unable to work out again.

There are a lot of ways to use a heavy bag and they don't all require wailing on the bag (eg form, speed, accuracy, consistency, volume, angles, etc...). Proper protective equipment should also be used and can vary depending on what you're doing. I wouldn't not wear wraps and use heavier gloves (and warming up) if practicing power shots or going hard. Knees, kicks, and elbows can also be practiced on a banana bag but the latter requires care. Otherwise you can skin your elbows pretty good (pads work better but require a training partner).

Look at you with those fancy Pendlay competition bumpers! I was bummed when MuscleDriverUSA closed and extra bummed when Coach Glenn passed.

I was considering a Liteboxer (sort of a Peloton for boxing workouts) but haven't been able to see one in person.
