I was reading a piece the other day about a rowing mix full of songs with a good rowing cadence. Supposedly, listening to a mix like that really improves your technique since it keeps you at a steady rhythm, like the left-right-left rhythm of marching songs. Might have to try it sometime.

Last night I brought out some nostalgia from my clubbing days. This actually was perfect for my cardio last night. BTW, Kyngofpop dig on this. |

I still rock an old little iPod. Wireless earbuds. Perfect for me. No interruptions like with a phone.
I use a lot of music podcasts(no commercials) mashups etc and rock/metal for big lifts. |

Same here - old iPod Nano, the small square one. MP3 full albums from Agnostic Front, Anthrax, Hatebreed, Slayer, Disturbed, Biohazard, Slipknot, Warzone, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies, and more for lifting and cardio/running speedwork. Then I have more full albums from Gang Starr, Public Enemy, Jeru, Tribe Called Quest, Eric B, and similar for long and slower runs on the treadmill or outside. Really not a fan of anything new, and not a fan of bringing my phone on runs or into the gym. Been using this iPod for 6 or 7 years and haven't updated the playlist in probably that long. Screen's cracked and I have to charge it every 2 days since the battery is shot, but when it goes I have my wife's old Nano I will use, which hasn't been used in probably 6 or 7 years - she prefers her phone via streaming/podcasts, as well as her Apple watch.

Was in a gas station back a few months ago and How Will I Laugh Tomorrow was playing over the PA. I was stunned. I asked the clerk if he was playing the music as clearly this isn't something that corporate owned gas station would allow to be played over their PA. I was hoping to be shocked that someone had some good taste in music but was not let down when he looked at me like I was an idiot and asked what a PA was and had no idea where the source of music was coming from and had never heard of Suicidal Tendencies. On cool downs, I'll listen to some Citizen Kane, Wu-Tang and some East Flat Bush Project. |

My stuff is on a loop and plays the same 70-100 songs in a row until I switch it out with something else.
But it will be something like Rage, Ice-Cube or NWA, AC/DC, Two-Chains, Alice in Chains, etc. I also tend to get on a Zepplin or Sabbath kick and, go through 3-4 songs at a time. Then there are the days I get a little crazy...especially with cardio work and will listen to Sinatra, Bishop and the Rat-Pack...Stevie Wonder and Elton John. My tastes are eclectic!

I listen to everything but country and that screaming shit. Depends on my mood, but currently I’ve been listening to a lot of TSFH and 2WEI. Depending on the song, I will sometimes inadvertently walk in slow mo around the gym.

Recently watched the Wu-Tang documentary Of Mics and Men. In episode 3 they document the Rage and Wu-Tang tour. They started showing clips of the tour and I realized the show they recorded was the show I was at. Really cool not only get to see both of them live in the same night, but almost 20 years later see a documentary with clips of the show I was at.

Some good suggestions above. I think my normal rotation to help keep me running is fairly aggressive and normally includes Highly Suspect, The Hives, Chevelle, Sevendust, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, J. Roddy Walston, Slipknot, Deftones, Local H, etc. If you’re familiar with the bands, you can probably guess my age, so I could use some suggestions to update my playlists.
