Damn our society hates freedom.

"We are calling because we were spying on you and someone was driving fast in your car. Must have been a criminal, not because you were having fun with your car, that's just inconceivable!

By the way, there's a crack on your toilet seat, you might want to fix that before someone gets hurt."

I guess i should chime in. 160 is as fast as i'll ever prolly go. in my early twenties my friends and I were driving to buffalo wild wings somewhat spiritually, when a integra started keeping pace with us. all of a sudden at about 100mph his front tire shoots off and his car instantly shot right off the freeway into a car dealership. That always stays in my head when the pedal is on the ground.

never really was a top speed guy but hit 160mph (speedo / gps speed 145mph) on the nascar straight. took the bowl at 135mph. turns are more fun.

Speedos are way off by about 10%.

Anyone else over order and end up destroying 30+ wings because you need multiple flavors? That IS a spiritual experience. Wings + Beers.

About 150 to 160 MPH on a 2015 BMW S1000RR in 5th doing 11k RPMs at VIR down the front straight going into turn 1. Don't know exactly how fast as the speedo was taped over to keep us from staring at it. Gauging from my experience with other sport bikes and the riding coaches on the same bikes doing high 170s in 6th gear.

I hit 177 as verified by GPS in the M6. I was following a Lamborghini Gallardo SL that hit 197, also by GPS. In Mexico, of course.
I bailed at that point as it was my first time on the road and I had a passenger.

I've hit 170 on tracks and sustained 175 from the airport when my brother had a stroke and my sister thought he wouldn't make it.

No. But I bet the sensation depends on the car you are in.

I caught air at about 115-20 mph in my old open top MR2 spyder. That freaked me out a touch.

While catching air at speed is never wise, 120 mph in my M3 is no big deal.

^^ Yep. Speedos are off and the error for some vehicles/bikes increases exponentially as speeds increase.

Bikes are off by as much as 12% and BMW is known for reporting at a minimum of 5% high.

180mph indicated on a bike is usually in the neighborhood of 160mph actual.

165mph indicated in a BMW is at best, about 156mph actual.

Did not know, next time I try I'll hold a GPS in my left hand and right on the throttle to see where the 650 lands.
