My wife is doing it right now. I did the "plyometrics" workout with her today and it was pretty damn hard. I'm in good shape to begin with and it was definitely a stuggle but was doable. You can pause it to give yourself more of a break if you need it. If you stick to the workout, you will absolutely get in good shape - no question IMO. Nutrition is key though obviously.

Yes you can finally define your body to not look like a skeleton anymore.
You can, also YouTube p90x and you'll see people's before and after.

I'm in the middle of it with my fiancee' right now. Plyometrics will kick your arse. Look for full kits on craigslist. Also, TJ Max, ROSS, Marshals, etc, are actually great places to find cheap bands and mats.

If you are looking to gain mass, it would not be my recommendation. I would recommend lifting weights 3-5 days a week supplemented with moderate cardio after lifting - like 20-30 mins of elliptical machine. Each session should focus on 1-2 body parts. You should also check your diet out, for skinny guys (hard gainers), I would recommend equal protein and carbs, and no unnecessary fat. That is the 20k foot view anyway : )

If you never lift really, I would recommend getting with a trainer (who looks the part) for nutrition and a program. Lifting can be a lot of fun and you can see great results with a good program. Conversely, if you just go in there and wing-it, you may end up working hard and not achieving anything and/or hurting yourself.

There is also a tremendous amount of information online, but there is also a lot of misinformation - so weeding through and tailoring it is a serious time commitment. Most good trainers have a lot figured out already.

You can supplement/replace with bands also. Like, if you aren't strong enough to do many pullups, the bands are a nice alternative. They also come in different weight ratings, etc. The investment is very minor in terms of equipment though, if that is what you are asking.

Just ordered it! I'm in okay shape right now (left over from my old bodybuilding days) but really need to step it up a notch. My wedding is in April with Honeymoon to Mexico following; would be nice to see my abs again..LOL!

I just went ahead and ordered the pullup bar as well; don't really have time to be hunting for this crap at Target; it is so freaking cold outside that I rather stay in.

I started P90X the day after my 40th birthday - March 15th- at the time I played hockey once a week and tried to get to the gym 2-3 days. I was 192 lbs on a 5'-9" frame. After my first 90 days I was 172lbs - shredded with a bonified 6 pack. This program is awesome. Since then I have done P90X+ and now on insanity. I am going back to P90X program next week as I found it was the best of all programs.

I highly recommend it to anyone as there is minimal equipment needed. As they say Decide, Commit, Succeed.

OK off my soap box for the morning. Have a great day!

I ordered p90x for 46 shipped from eBay, multi function pull up bar, ABS strap and band for 36 shipped, also on eBay, yoga mat for 9 bux at target. I was contemplating on buying the bow flex adjustable dumbbells for 300 until I found a set of adjustable 40 pound dumbbells online (Walmart) for 20 bux, so ill be buying those. Another thing u need is a bench or chair; I'm sure everyone has this at home already. I will be starting round one of p90x when I return from vacation the end of February. Ill be starting a "Get in shape for summer" topic. Anyone want to join me? We can keep eachother motivated. Maybe we can post pics every two weeks or whatever. Lmk guys.

I disagree with the bold
he even says it in the video, don't think you can't.. just do as many as you can..
the bands are not to replace if you arent strong enough, that's what the chair is for. the bands are if you dont have place to put up the pullup bar.

I didnt think I could, but I gave it a go (with the chair) and I did 4 wide pull ups and I consider myself an out of shape person. (and so does everyone else..)

Maybe it conflicts with what he says in the video (I'm not a p90x expert), but you CAN replicate the motion of a pullup with overhead pulling movements using bands - that's all I'm saying. In the same way that you can do lat pulldowns at the gym to work your back, biceps, etc. without being able to lift your entire weight.

Nice! That's awesome. I haven't seen my 8 pack since 2005...too much Latin Food..LOL!

I'll be happy with a 2-pack right now...looking forward to receiving the program in 5-7 days.

Did you take any supplements? If so, which?

I have P90X and have never gotten through the full 90 days. I did maybe 12 days before I got distracted but it sure is intense. Definitely gets your energy level throughout the day up. I should get back on it and try to complete the thing. I'm in good shape now but would like to be ripped... ya know
