And congrats to the OP. The 6th gen Camaro SS is a value and great performer. The 1LE takes it to another level. If it wasn't for the interior I would probably be looking at them as well. I just hope the next GT500 is on par with the ZL1. Because that I would be down with. haha

I honestly don't blame you. There are lots of good cars out there. I own a Stingray that I love along with my 135is. Both great cars. I considered the Camaro too, but wanted something slightly more rare and with better visibility. Believe it or not, I can see better out of the Vette than I can the Camaro. I also have a 2+2 with the 135is, so didn't feel I needed another. Congrats!

No one wants a V6 in any car, much less a Miata. A turbo four, a rotary or any of the existing V8 conversions all work better than a nasty V6.

Well no one wanted turbo 4s ever. Look what we have now.

Meh, a four has its place. A V6 is a nasty thing. A straight six or a boxer is a totally different thing. But none of them belong in a Miata.

Frankly, the ND is about perfect. I've driven it and the Abarth and would prefer the n/a version unless I lived at altitude. Both are faster than the GT86 and don't have the stupid torque dip of that poor motor.

I have owned 2 NA Miatas and currently shopping for my 3rd. If it were the right V6, I6, whatever & plenty more power, I would not mind it in the Miata.

With that said, the gen pop would prefer a turbo 4 or V8 as you said. I'll take any of the 3 if it makes the car faster. The only gripe I have w/the Miata is not enough power. The only reason I don't just say f it & buy an ND instead is because I will be adding another RWD V8 fast toy & would rather have that vs ND. So I can have another NA + the V8 toy. Win.

It’s interesting the link with the Miata and the LS3 v8, how that pushrod engine can fit into such a small/low package. This is one reason the pushrod has outlived a lot of estimates, low cg and small package.

I would have driven either a Miata or BRZ/86 combo if they had a factory turbo/supercharged option.

250hp is where I have worked out my minimum happy point is in a new car, and that is just not a lot nowadays.

Congrats, you'll love it!

I've been obsessed with the SS 1LE for over a year now, but just kept hesitating because it was only offered on the 1SS. Now that the 2SS 1LE is available there's a good chance I'll go that way too.

The first ones are being delivered now. Camaro6g forums has a pic of the interior in this thread, though it still has a lot of the factory protective wrap hiding stuff.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512564

When you ordered it, did you notice if you could mix in any color options on the interior? I've been wondering if you could get the Adrenaline Red door panel accents and bits like that, but no one on the forums seemed to know for sure.

I've seen some of the 1SS buyers put some colored trim pieces, in like kneepads and something in the doors. These appeared to be ordered aftermarket. I only want black interiors though, other colors are just too easy to mess up IMO. I don't know if you can have a colored interior on the 2ss.

And yeah, it seems that we don't have any good pics of the 2ss 1LE interior yet, I saw that a few have shown up, some dealers have some decent stocks now, but I haven't seen any with a sunroof yet. That said, it should be 2SS interior with the suede steering wheel and shifter. I played around with the 1ss 1LE and 2SS models a few weeks ago and the 1ss interior was just a little too hard to live with for me, and maybe not even so much that, but that you couldn't get some of the 2ss features that make it a much more livable machine. I haven't gotten an update on my order status, but it looks like they are starting to crank these out now.

back in the day i was choosing between a 1997 prelude and a 1995 mx6. the prelude had a vtec 4. rhe mx6 had a 2.5 nasty v6. one test drive of both and i knew that in real world driving the 6 would bri g more grins per mile. recently test drove a miata rf thought it might replicate my old z4 coupe...it did in many respects but it lacked the smooth torquey 6 the z4 had...i susoect a lot of peoplr feel the same...just look at 718 sales vs 981

I am looking for a mid-life silly car as all i do is a 10 minute commute and the wifes X3 does the heavy family lifting.

I am looking for a solid 350 to 400 HP, maybe even convertible, life is too short to deal with NA 4 banger power.

Well, it happened. Arrived on the boat and I picked it up yesterday. Through some freak of weather, it was 50 degrees yesterday so I was easily able to drive it home without fearing for my life or cracking the tires that crack below 20 degrees. Absolutely amazing to me, got to drive a bit more to the gas station and such. It feels so solid, so crisp and at the same time so smooth. Seems much higher quality than the cheaper non-v8/non-2ss models that I've driven to date, the suede seats with the wheel and the leather accents are nice. Doors nicer than the base models, and so on. The feel is just tremendous though, smooth gears, massive power and torque on tap, absolutely amazing noise, it seems to be what I wanted to "re-engage" with driving.

Only problem was the interior lighting was set to pink when I got it, someone must have been trying to screw with me (you can select around 30 different colors, I reset it to blue).

I'll try to get my winter tires and wheels on tonight.

the ZL1-1LE has very firm/harsh suspension, but the SS-1LE has the Magnaride stuff like the regular ZL1

our roads are not that great out here either.

Wow, sunroof and black bowtie emblems, nice configuration!

That's a nice looking car. What other options besides those mentioned above?

Strut brace, the black emblems, mats, I think that was it. There really aren’t any other real options except different kinds of stickers, since it’s a 2SS and 1LE, performance exhaust (nice!), heated and cooled seats, blind spot detect are standard, bose, etc. I’ve rented a low end one recently and the interior on this is much nicer, impressive actually. The sunroof was important because the cockpit does feel a little small, although I fit fine, it kind of makes it seem a little more airy.

Looks great, congrats.

Just ordered a Canadian ZL1 1LE that hopefully arrives late March. I can't believe they will sell these for under $85k Canadian pesos. Truly impressive cars for the money.

Nice pick up. The sixth gen is miles ahead of any performance car wearing a BMW badge. I'm a big fan of the way they drive.

I've never driven one, and don't mind the way they look, but I just can't get over that "it's a high school car" feel.
