Big Ten bails. Maybe in the spring. I wonder how many others will follow suit now.

I was reading there are some conflicting reports about that, but wouldn't be surprised if they actually did shut it down. I wonder how much of it is due to COVID vs. players trying to organize. Probably a combination.

I expect other conferences will follow, but I don't think Spring works. A lot more players will opt out due to NFL combine and proximity to draft, need to compete with college basketball, 2 seasons within the same year, etc. Not to mention there is no guarantee COVID will be any better in the Spring than Fall. Also hard to see how a national championship will work if some teams play in Fall and others in the Spring. If I had to bet, I'd say season will just get cancelled if 2-3 Power 5 conferences shut it down.

Absolutely ridiculous, the overblown paranoia continues. Let em drop, then hopefully the SEC will have the sack the rest of the country should grow and allow every team who wants to play to join the SEC for a year. I won’t miss a single minute of college football or any sport if they all get canceled, but this shit is ridiculous and needs to stop. None of these college players are at any statistical chance of dying from the Wu Tang Flu, and as long as they don’t wheel out people in their 80s with serious pre-existing health conditions the risks to everyone else is minimal as well.

Move the hell on ffs, enough of this paranoid delusional bs.

It's specifically 'about' concerns related to Covid-19 causing heart complications in some cases. It's complicated, here's a pretty good rundown: https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ason-viability

U-Michigan has not officially communicated “no football tickets”. Detroit media are reporting vaguely that talks are in progress and information “is coming”.

My guess is there will be no tickets. Whether or not there is athletic competition is of no concern to us. We attend one or two games per year for personal/social/emotional reasons, and the athletic competition just happens to be in the same place at the same time as us.

I saw that. It is a valid concern, but it remains suspicious that the news of potential cancellations came within days of some conferences announcing schedules and talk of player demands related to matters other than just safety.

Same for Miami - no specific plans on seating. Presume that is now further on the back burner in light of debates about whether or not there will be a season.

Looks like Big10 made it official today. No football in 2020. We’ll see what the others do.

Gonna be a big mess if some conferences play and others don’t.

NCAA has been pretty silent on conference discussions. Surely, kids will need to be granted another year of eligibility if they want to return in ‘21 and scholarship limits will need to be expanded to accommodate holdovers and incoming freshmen. But how does that work if some conferences play and others don’t? And it trickles down. Sophomores and juniors that are sitting behind a senior and expected to start in ‘21 may now face the prospect of the guy ahead of them returning. Transfer portal would get very busy pretty quickly.

That's true. I am told, any athlete can opt out of the season but still maintain their year of eligibility. Likewise, if the season is canceled.

On the other-hand, Juniors or Seniors, where their season is delayed or postponed, would need to be prepared to declare for the NFL or wait another season.

Full steam ahead for ACC, SEC and Big 12...for now!

As much as we all want football to be in our lives, the risks and more importantly the long term effects/health conditions for these kids is largely unknown.

It's a double edged sword because we all want the season to happen, the majority of players want it to happen and it's a multi billion dollar business for universities around the nation that need it to happen financially.

The issue is that we are treading unknown waters and don't want to intentionally put these kids at risk who very well know football has been their life/foundation/proper guidance and direction in their lives but is now stripped away from them.

Tough times, this pandemic sucks!

Couldn't have imagined a harder 1st year tenure for Coach Norvell.

Typical FSU fashion to get blown up in the media. Not saying Warren T is wrong but this isn't the first time he's been outspoken. Similar issues happened last year under Taggart. Guy has been nothing but a liability since day one.

On another note, our best players (Wilson, Woodby, Samual, plus several others) backed up Norvell/FSU protocols and procedures.

Will take some time to change the culture and get the right guys to mesh.

There was definitely some rust on both sides of the ball but it was a pretty good win. Lack of spring hurts teams installing new systems, but they will get better with time. Great to watch some football last night!
