Had the test drive yesterday on a varied route with town driving and motorway driving, in summary its a no from me for my next car but its an impressive bit of engineering
I appreciate there are faster cars around but the Ioniq 5N feels almost too fast! The power delivery and lack of fuss with 641 bhp in a mid size SUV is impressive and the ride on the 235/35 21 square setup also impressive. Interior fit and finish is a huge step up for Hyundai and their technology is clearly up there with the best. In the real world, not on a track, a small press of the throttle at any speeds and your done. Brutal acceleration with the 10 second extra power boost, from 30-70 was almost instant the speedo trying to keep up. Why don't I want one ? The Ioniq 5N almost feels like a novelty toy to the dealerships, the dealer ship experience was not on par with my usual brands. I guess with the average customer looking for a more budget focussed car this model does stand out. Especially in the bright Orange demo colour car we test drove. The rear defuser in the flesh is huge and neither of us liked the bright orange side blades and front splitter that cant be changed. Overall I didn't hate it and its a very impressive piece of engineering but didn't love it either. I think some of the challenge is my X3 M40i with Idrive 6 and all the buttons still real buttons most of the newer cars will seem a bit less user friendly The search continues for a replacement, next up when available to drive the Audi S5 and Audi SQ5, also noticed 2 new X3M cars with £20k off at dealerships. |

If it has to be a Hyundai EV for the work thing have you looked at the EV version of the GV70? Never driven the EV but I did check out the ICE GV70 and I liked it a lot.

Hyundai dealerships are a total hot mess. I couldn't believe the bullshit we had to go through with leasing our I5. While the cars have clearly classed up, the dealerships are still designed around the budget car demographic. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there, and am really not looking forward to having to take it back for recalls/warranty work. I found one dealer around that's a small step up. But man, it still makes the local Nissan dealer look like a luxury car dealer.

Subaru was fine. Nissan, mazda, and honda were okay, but the Hyundai dealership was like walking into a used car dealership. A complete mess. They lost paperwork, completely screwed up our agreement of sale so we had to re-sign docs like 2 weeks later, etc. Absolutely awful. I will not be taking the Hyundai back to that dealer for anything, I will likely return it to another dealership when the lease is up. Thankfully there's not much maintenance on an EV, so not many times it needs to be back in the dealers hands anyway. I honestly hadn't planned on going to that dealer, but they cut an additional 4K off of the discounts that all the other dealers in the area offered. |

Good idea staying away from the Ioniq N. Once the manufactured hype (from paid journalists) wears off these are going to depreciate like a rock and collect dust on dealer lots. Dealership experience is also a big factor. Audi or BMW are both much better options.

With the way Kia and Hyundai dealers are basically giving away leases on the EVs, I'd wait for a lease deal to pop up on any of their EVs. I was recently looking at the EV6 GT and the Ioniq 5 N since the lower trims are dirt cheap, but couldnt get any good deals on those.
I just got an EV9 GT Line (79k msrp) for 440/month for 2 years. FIL just got an EV6 (58k msrp) for ~ 200/month for 2 years. While they are good cars with tech and luxuries that rival most cars ive been in for under 100k, I'm not sold on them holding value longterm. As for the dealership experience, its different across all dealerships and even across the people you interact with. My local hyundai dealers are great. One of the kia dealers is great, the other (where i got my ev9) was garbage but my FIL got his EV6 at the same dealership and it was way better for him. The BMW and Mercedes dealerships ive dealt with have been garbage the handful of times ive dealt with them.
