5g with corona

I am actually looking forward to the 12mini. I have a 8+ and my wife has the 8 and I have regretted going for the larger phone ever since.

I loved my 5S. I still have it for work travel to carry foreign SIM cards I love the size of it, but you can feel the speed difference coming from the 8. The 12 mini looks like it is the closest in size to the 5S that Apple has made since then without putting 2nd hand parts in it.

The only problem is that I’m cheap, and don’t know if I could spend money on anything when I have a perfectly working phone as it is. At the end of the day it performs the functions I actually use it for.

Currently have an X and was hoping for bigger upgrades. I love magsafe, and the camera updates, but I'm plenty fine with what I have, will probably wait for the next one I guess.

What I would like to see is some attention and effort into making the camera lens flush with the back panel.

I also hope that many do not get caught up in what 5G really is... in the USA there is to be 5G sub band and 5G+.

5G sub band is what most of the country will get by 2025... it will be faster than 4g Lte but only marginally based on current tests.

5G+ or mm wave 5G is the true 5G and that will always be limited to tiny areas of cities, sports arenas and buildings that have those ugly towers next to them. This is the one that is 20 x faster than 4G... almost no one will take advantage of this except a few scenarios.

This is not like the 3G to 4G upgrade... where 3G by default was useless and slow... 4G LTE is already fast for browsing.

iPhone 7 here and don't see myself upgrading till the battery craps on me. I've never been one to have the latest and greatest in any kind of technology

So it doesn't come with earbuds or charging cable? That sucks.

Also, new usb-c charging port? Right now I only have a drone and gopro that uses that connection lol.

It comes with a cord but no separate brick to plug in the wall.

Not a big deal then, I have so many of those adapters and I also mainly use wireless charging so the plug change may not affect me. I usually skip a gen or two when it comes to iPhones, or wait for the S version.

Yeah, at first I also thought they got rid of the cord. Luckily its still in the box, but the end of it is USB-C and I have no bricks for that. It won't be too long until they get rid of the cord though...

The new blue color is quite becoming though.

Ah gotcha.

Personally I've never used the fingerprint scanner OR FaceID so I wasn't really sure if there was a legit issue with it for some reason.

I don't get the hoopla over 5g. My 4g phone is super fast for phone stuff. I have never been on my phone thinking if I could only load this faster (unless I have signal issues which I would imagine still apply to 5G).

Did they though? I don't remember much going on with dumb phones other than making them smaller. I think we were spoiled by the original iphone which WAS revolutionary and changed the whole cellphone industry. Everything since then.... meh. Now we are at a point where the cameras are so good and the specs are so fast that even when they make them better and faster you don't really feel it. That's my opinion anyways.

We crossed that line about around the iphone X, where there are no more legitimate uses for any more phone features.

5G will be useful for industrial applications where Latency is super important... i.e. robot operations etc.

Not sure what value if any it has to the average user... the marketing on it is straight up MAGA level.

With that release, maybe I can convince my dad that it's time to replace his 5S, maybe get an SE like I did earlier this year to replace my 6. The price on all existing tech should drop.
Both dad and I like a phone sized that fits in a front shirt pocket.
