tatarwj, please keep us updated in your search for a shop that will do the work on your G80 and all of the prices you are being quoted for the various brands and their products of PPF, ceramic coating and window tint.

Curious minds want to know!

For sure! For everyone’s reference, I am in the Pittsburgh area.

So far here are the 3 responses I have (awaiting on 5 responses and searching for more):

Ceramic tint (no windshield): $450, $475 (I received another quote but was for no ceramic and waiting for the reply on the ceramic quote)

Ceramic coating with paint correction: $1399, $1600, $1800 (all “4 year” leaving the “8 year out of equation)

Ppf (Full hood, Full bumper, front fenders, mirrors & rocker panels): $2100, $2290, $2398

All responses received so far only use XPEL.

Hoping to receive more soon and I will provide and update!

Thank you for all the information, direction and support!

Look for Ceramic Pro and SunTek shops. Their websites should give you the names of shops in your area.

Many shops do 2-3 layers of Ceramic Pro 9H followed by 1-2 layers of their Top Coat.

Ask them about Top Coat.

I felt most comfortable with the Car Pro place, between reviews, pictures, and talking to the owner. They have recently done a few M3’s and the pics and reviews look great! I called them back and was able to get another $200 off. When it’s all said and done, $1800 total including tax for the ceramic tint, paint correction and ceramic coating.

I know it may be not the best deal or price, but I have a sense of security with their quality of work and their shop since my car is doing a couple nights of sleepovers 😂!

Thanks for all your help!!!

I am holding off for the time being. My m240 had 2300 miles when I traded it in and I had it for 1 week shy of a year. It was a great car, just didn’t have enough power and handling for my preference. Plus, my 4 y/o took 1 look at it and said that she was never getting in it. That was nice leverage for me to negotiate the approval for my wife to upgrade. The weekend before my m3 came to the dealer and I traded it in, I noticed the first rock chip that was the size of a dust particle on the front right of the bumper. It was so minimal I had to look twice and run my finger over it.
I have always done well in those aspects with my cars, 5 years in a 335, 10 years in a STI and 5 years in a wrx, I can only recall a couple rock chips. I leave a nice, but respectful gap between the car in front of me, and I’m chalking it all up to that. If it’s a truck, and there are no mud flaps, I’m even more cautious.

With all of that said, I didn’t feel that I needed to invest in the PPF. Also, the shop that’s doing my work said if I change my mind at any point, they will strip off the ceramic, apply the PPF and apply ceramic on top for the same cost. They also said the same thing just happened with someone else’s m3. Had it cermaic coated, 1 year later wanted the PPF. They will correct everything prior to applying too.

Thanks for asking!

Don’t forget when the paint comes fresh from the factory it is notoriously soft and prone to these chip imprints. I would sooner see you put PPF on the entire front and then do ceramic later on.

That’s a great point and I do not think I would have ever thought to do it in that order!

These prices all still sound crazy.

I paid AU$1000 (less than US$700) for a full paint correction and application of GTechniq Ultra a few years back on my Jerez Black E90 M3. Looked good, but never really felt worth it TBH.

You are basically putting the cart before horse. You started this thread stating you wanted front PPF along with ceramic and window tint. I think you may have been sidetracked with all of the ceramic coating discussion because the ceramic goes on top of the PPF and not vice versa.

Ceramic coating will not protect the front of your new beauty from rock chips while PPF will protect the car from most smaller road debris coming your way with the exception of something really sharp or large hitting it. The better brands of PPF are self healing and some of the top of the line PPF products they offer now have hydrophobic properties like you get with ceramic coatings.
